Be A GM in 2017 - opinions

Its been years since i stayed away from EA's NHL....for so many reasons. I am strictly an offline guy and play Be a GM/Franchise. I know its quite early to ask this since most of guys are just seeing the difference from past versions (hopefully there's tons of improvement specifically in this mode) and waiting for the updated rosters.

Kindly put your positive and negative impressions here... nice to see some people posting here again after a long break from the game. I am looking at some of these past issues, but feel free to add +/- features in BAGM 2017:

1. Neutral zone - is there any pressure at all
2. Is it easy to enter to zone - AI defense lets you in easily and no need to dump the puck
3. Trade - is it logical
4. Can you transfer Team to another city (ex. Seattle) and create uniforms (logo's are there any new ones?)
5. Player differentiation - THIS IS HUGE for me...i dont want to see a Line 4, plug guy, equal or almost at par with a Line 1 star player

Looking forward to comments of some people who loves BeAGm...you know who you are

Many thanks.

Re: Be A GM in 2017 - opinions

1. I'm currently using AlTito's sliders, and there is neutral zone pressure. The sliders play pretty sloppy, so there are quite a bit of turnovers and hits and bumps in the neutral zone, so to also answer number 2, it's not as easy as before to enter the zone. Also, with these sliders, there does come more of a need to dump or shoot the puck into the corners so as not to turn over the puck.

3. Havn't touched Franchise mode yet, but seeing as it's EA I have my doubts.

4. I'm pretty sure you can, it was the main selling point of the game this year.

5. I know you are quite the hounder of EA with this game and I know the answer you are hoping for. However I believe to really see these results, they need to be thoroughly tested, which I've really only been playing and enjoying it without this thought in mind.

Great...thanks for your response. So #1 and #2 is answered so far, hopefully EA will not change these on the upcoming tuner update....they are known for that.

To be honest, I just came back to pick up this game but the Fred Meyer where I bought this have that in their receipt, they can only refund me if i returned it unopen. So let see....I will wait before i open it up

Thanks again!

Re: Be A GM in 2017 - opinions

For what it's worth, I was going to pass on this year's game after finally growing tired of the legacy issues and general feeling more and more like each year is another roster update with little gameplay improvements. All I heard this year was about create a team and relocation and creating an arena. I only got it as a birthday gift from my girlfriend.

But I've spent a lot of time with it since I put it in. The improvements to the sliders alone, from the 0-100 sliders and the addition of things like incidental contact and puck on stick/legs/body give the gameplay a much needed improvement. Compared to other sports games the NHL sliders were always lacking but this year they stepped into the big leagues.

That said, it's still EA. You still may be left wanting for more from what I've seen you talk about in the past. But as a hockey fan, I emplore you to open it, I mean part of you wanted it since you already bought it.

Good information. I am definitely waiting for buying this for sale. When NHL season starts, rosters will be better and prospects added, also bugs are hopefully fixed.

Still playing NHL 16 be a gm with Sharks, so there's no hurry buying new one. Looser puck and better sliders are definitely things that interest me.

So guys keep writing your impressions, those are interesting to read.

Re: Be A GM in 2017 - opinions

Also, as far as logos and what not for create a team, there isn't much. Whlie there are new ones, a few of the ones from older games are there, but not all. There are a lot of vintage logos for current teams as well as teams no longer around. And there are 4 or 5 styles of font to choose a single letter from. 2 collegiate fonts, a handscript font, an older (victorian?) style font, and a "modern font" that looks like the font for ESPN.

As far as the jerseys, there are 30 different styles and they seem a tad more open for customizing to your liking. I've spent hours already just in that alone for the 6 created teams I have now.

And lastly with the arenas, there isn't much to go on there other than preset designs and the option to change the colors around of the walls and seating. But there options for like the goal horns, goal songs, powerplay and winning songs, but of course you can only choose from a few offical teams songs, the songs on the EA soundtrack, or random custom made EA generic songs. Oh, and you can change the spotlight when a goal is scored or on the opening faceoff. Neat stuff, but I don't see people spending hours here trying to get things 'just right' for their team, more so the jerseys.

Just open the game, punch in mine or altitos sliders and enjoy. This is the best gameplay for offline players that has ever existed. Also, lots of cool presentation things going on too. Almost positive you won't regret it.

THANKS....beside from CaptainSuperman, you're one of the guys whose opinion I respect. Read your thread and that made me purchase it...without opening the box.

Yes Capt.Superman, I open the box last night after work. Spent hours in Create a Team. Surprisingly, I liked it. Dont mind about the logos that were not there anymore. But to make it easier by selecting the colors pertaining to your team and applying them to arena and jersey is a great addition.

OBG, I will try to use your sliders (I used your sliders before back in 2k) and start from there.

THANK YOU GUYS!!! I will give this a shot...anyhow, not buying since 2013 saved me couple of bucks hahahahha.
