I love this.

For me to play Franchise, the presentation package during games has to uniquely represent the season. Seeing season stats and stuff like a guy grabbing a puck for his first goal is what i've been expecting.

The 5 man celebration is probably just a game winning goal type animation.

I think these new inclusions have the potential to be fun, but at the same time, people shouldn't be criticized for thinking that these are all a bit of putting lipstick on a pig.

I think there's a good chance that the new sliders could help a bit, but honestly, if the game plays like it did last year, I don't know that I would buy it either. I just couldn't get into that. If you did, that's awesome. But, I don't think people should be chided for wanting more done to the part of the game they play.
Touche. It's the manner by which the complainers do their bidding that i take issue with. They are blunt and merciless, so was I. That's how that went down. It's fine to have concerns and desires, but the whining around here is almost intolerable these days.

I'll give you that one. I think a lot of people let emotion get in the way, and forget how to be constructive with their criticisms.

Here's hoping the new sliders are going to give us the ability to really fine tune the actual gameplay, and get that to the liking of people who like a more sim type gameplay.

Two things!

Does anyone know if we can simply replace a team with a created one at the beginning or franchise mode? or do we have to wait and relocate!?

Finally, i just hope the file saving system is not the same as last year! where every time you click on your GM file, it creates a duplicate and there only so many spaces! Then if you create more than one BGM, its get overwritten by a duplicate...only allowing us to have one or two BGM's (any info on this or a way to fix? XB1!

From the ask EA Sports NHL:

Q: Can we create custom teams/jerseys in Quick Play, HUT, Be a GM, and EASHL?

A: Create Team allows people to create teams and take them into Play Now and Franchise Mode. As well in the EASHL you will be able to unlock customization and then start to build your team identity using the create team tools. In Hockey Ultimate Team you will not be able to create teams and take them into the mode.

- Andy Agostini, Associate Producer

So..
I can only speculate at this point.
I think there is a big chance you can create your own teams from the start, seeing as the beta did let players fool around with the new team creator.
I guess it is made for EASHL (a mode that is getting a bigger lift this year, it seems)
I hope that we can start the franchise with our own creations, but at this point it seems you must start the franchise mode with an NHL team and take it from there. But I don't think this has been fully clarified yet. But the answer above indicates you can. I don't think we can be fully certain before the game is out.

Yserman101 also referred to an interesting question in his post earlier that could diversify this mode and how you approach it.

It is a start at least, and I applaud the NHL 17 team for its willingness to give team creators and franchise some love.
I will certainly buy this game to play as GM (and for team creation possibilities), even though I'm skeptical of the path this mode is taking.

Heck I might even give the good ol' be a pro goalie mode a crack if they have fixed the goalies for players.

Best case scenario: Play as a goalie on your own created team in franchise! That would be sweet.

Re: NHL 17 Franchise Mode Trailer and Plenty of Details

I sure hope the AI is smarter and will actually settle on a 25 man roster that isn't just their highest rated players, and then end up playing a d-man on their 4th line, or a forward as their 6th defenseman in the event of an injury because they only have backups at one position, are at the cap, and won't even bother sending down a guy on a two way contract.

I have been one of many voices on this forum over the year asking for them to incorporate all of their leagues into a single mode like FIFA's Manager Mode. I know it's a huge amount of work, and isn't a pay mode, but damn if it isn't progressive.

Unless there is a licensing issue, it needs to be done. I want to be able to start as a GM in the OHL (develop a draft of generated rookies to repopulate the league), get the the AHL, and move to the NHL. Maybe if I fail in the NHL I can go to Sweden and try to work my way back.

I want to be able to plumb Europe for some veteran talent to fill out my roster and maybe find the next Johan Franzen or even Panarin.

If it is a licensing issue, I doubt it would be any league but the NHL standing in the way. If they are, they need to look at all the elite soccer leagues that have no problem with this.

International signings and management would be awesome.

Another thing I would love for them to cherry pick from FIFA would be the ability to be approached by international teams to coach them in tournaments. Some of the most fun I had with FIFA was managing Chelsea (I such at soccer, so I gotta go with the better than average teams) and then getting approached to coach Finland in their International Tournament. I checked stats, got players that would fit my attempt at assembling a speedy team, since I couldn't rely on stacked rosters of elite players like some larger countries could. Then, later, I got invited to coach Team USA, and that was more fun.

Imagine doing that for the Olympics, or the World Juniors (potential scouting for yourself there too), or getting to assemble the best Finnish team for the World Cup. It could be so much fun to assemble a smaller national team, and try to qualify them for the cup, picking from a list of guys in the European leagues, and whatever NHL and AHL talent you can get on your team too.

Oh, and that would also include being able to hire/fire coaches for your teams. Say you want to transition the Blues to a faster team, and away from the heavy grind-it-out style. You could find powerplay, head and assistant coaches who fit that style of play. Then they could request you scout certain players, ownership might say they want you to take certain types of players in the draft. Maybe you're in a spot like Columbus, where you could get a solid winger, or a potentially equal center, who's ranked lower, but has greater size...do you go against the owner's request to grab that winger and hope to come out right in the end, or do you cave and just get the better player now, instead of filling a position?

I'm an offline franchise mode only player and this video did absolutely nothing for me. I don't want to micro mange popcorn and hot dogs. Can't we just have solid game play and a normal GM mode.
