No "major" weaknesses.... Interested to see what that means.

Yeah, and why would anyone not choose this style if that is the case?

Probably going the way of offensive defenseman.

It's very obvious what that means. It means that all of the attributes are middle-of-the-road average, like the characters in beat-'em-up games that had 5/10 for every attribute. No major weaknesses, but no major strengths either. The rest of the entry states this clearly:

Quote:
HYBRID GOALIE

Strengths:
  • Average goalie skill across the board. This goalie class is perfect for the player that like to mix up their playing style as the game goes on.
Weaknesses:
  • No major weaknesses.

My stance playing goalie was basically identical to the way EA had it but my hands were closer to my body covering up the holes in-between the body and arms. I have my reasons for why I like that, but I won't go into that. Nonetheless there is no reason EA shouldn't have more than one stance for goalies. IMO every NHL goalie in the game should have their real stance but that's not happening. Somehow hundreds of hitters in a MLB game have their batting stance but EA can't do 60 or a bit more goalies.

I also don't understand the goalie styles. What is the point of even using butterfly and stand up if there is truly no incentive to? You may as well just use hybrid because there are 0 weaknesses. I just don't think that makes any sense. Why would anyone want to be really good on one attribute, and bad on the other. I just don't get it. May as well be decent on both.

I am really interested to see how these goalies move now though. It would be a big help to the game if these goalies start moving and reacting like they do in real life.

I would say the point is when used properly they can be very effective. Stand-Up style will probably do very well in the majority of online games as *most* players tend to shoot for top shelf every time, and even when they don't it's still usually mid-net. A Stand-Up style will dominate the reflex kiddies who's sole purpose is to try and go bar-down on every shot they take.

Will we be able to switch from FWD to goalie with our players and not lose any progress? I love how they do this in FIFA.

What progression?

One of the best features of this class system is that we're all on even playing grounds, so yeah you can switch from player to goalie and have the same builds as everyone else! No more 700 games grind to get your skater + goalie to LG3.

Is this a joke? You're kidding right? That was the best part of EASHL.. The grind of getting your guy up and that achievement you feel when you're higher overall than other players, knowing the work you put into it.
