I say thats about right. Its hard cause they want to wait for all the rookies to make their NHL debuts.

I'm going with Friday, October 12, so about 9 days from the season opener. I don't have time to start a new franchise until the weekend anyway, so that works for me!

An underage player can be sent back to junior before playing his 10th NHL game. If they play that 10th game the first year of their 3 year entry level contract is burned. Rosters aren't really finalized until after the 9 game threshold, EA doesn't put out the official roster until those moves have been completed.

You are only part correct. Underage players can be sent down at any time, they burn a year off their entry level contract if they play past the 9 game mark and get a year closer to UFA status if the play past the 41 or so game mark. Rosters are final as of October 2 and must be submitted to the NHL by that date. NHLPA rules state that players just need to step on the ice for a regular season game to be part of the union and therefore can be added into the game once they do that. My guess is that there will be a roster update at some point this week since some teams don't start their schedule until tonight.

Is this regarding the NHL 19 version? I read somewhere that EA is no longer supporting/updating the 18 version? Is that true?

One year of roster support is standard for all sports games.
