Lower the difficulty slider for face-offs? That's what I did.

The faceoff system itself is unchanged from previous years. They may have upped the difficulty slightly, but all the same rules still apply.

Check out the OS guide from some tips on winning draws:

I also had to change the CPU faceoff slider in order to win a few draws.

Re: How the hell do you win a faceoff????

On the "Normal" slider setting I can win maybe about 40% of the draws during a good game

I played the beginning tutorial and once I finally figured out how they wanted the face-off to be done I could finally win some. With the demo in all of the games I played I maybe only won a handful of face-offs by sheer luck.

My opinion on it is that it would be easier to have a face-off system where you choose the forehand/backhand by pressing left/right on the left stick and then just pressing back on the right stick once the puck drops. At least then it would be based more on reaction time than hoping the controler reads the right stick movement correctly like it has to now. That also leaves pressing the left stick up to "body" the opponent on the face-off available.

I was wondering the same thing as I lost EVERY faceoff.

Re: How the hell do you win a faceoff????

I've been having the same problem, I even made a topic about it. I refuse to change the sliders as I mostly play online where you cannot change the sliders.

I still cannot win faceoffs in this game even after following JMoney's faceoff guide. I spent an hour in the demo purposely icing the puck, then I would pause the game after the computer chose their grip so I could choose the "superior" grip to win. It didn't help at all.

Topic Creator, the only thing that has worked for me is to grip backhand (push the right stick the same way the tip of the hockey stick is facing) and then when the puck is dropped, roll the stick from 9 o clock to 12 o clock (or if the player's backhand is the other way, 3 to 12 o clock).

While this has me winning about 65% of faceoffs, I still have no idea why this works or what in the heck I'm doing.
