Well if you think the only problem with 12 is one slider then we are on two different wavelengths..

Look at what happened.

Constructive criticism is a good thing, especially in an early build for a game coming out, not sure why some of you get so defensive.
Exactly. The progression of their comments is so predictable it's funny. Trailers come out- 'Best game eva!" Game videos/demo out (and are dissappointing) "it's still in alpha" Game comes out borked needing a day one patch "they don't have enough time for QA in a 10 month cycle" and then finally when things are still broken- "it's just a game it'll never be like real hockey"

Calling NHL 12 broken is as bad as a fanboy calling it perfect. The progression of comments from "EA haters" are just as predictable and just as sad.

The game was "borked" when it came out? How so? And it's broken now? Sure, there are some elements to gameplay that are awful (figure skating puck control, bouncing off hits, some AI issues, etc.) but the game is hardly broken.

There's a difference between coming in a thread, and saying, I hope EA works to make the passing a bit more sloppy. And coming into a thread and saying EA IS THE SUX HALF A GAME!

No one, not one person on this board thinks NHL is perfect or without flaws or areas it needs improvement on. But you also need to be realistic about it, it's a yearly title, with about a 10 month cycle. ****'s not always going to work 100%, that's the reality of software development. You take the good with the bad, and really? The game is mostly good imo.

It's the same handful of trolls every year, and I'm sorry plaid the stuff you post on a regular basis is just flat out trolling for effect and not much else.

Money know's how to be constructive, bwiggy knows how to be constructive, there's not a damn thing wrong with pointing out flaws, we all know the game has it's share. But the **** you and harshy do is far from constructive.

It's just my opinion RealmK...but even though '12' apparently set first month sales records for the franchise, I'm still thinking EAC could kinda sense as well, that the game was losing a bit of it's momentum [in innovations] that had built up from '07'. Again...jmo.

Of course our board is just a small sample size, but even here...you could see some of the goodwill and faith in the game starting to fade. So thankfully it at least seems as though EA Vancouver is trying to reignite the games momentum with the useful upgrades to '13'.

I sure like hearing that they've apparently spent more time on the AI this year than the last three combined. But it does kinda make me think...huh? Umm...like, what the heck was going on '10'-'12'? But anyway...seems as though the fires may be burning again at EAC for my favorite sports game. Man...that demo can't come soon enough!

I spend half my life here at OS providing sliders, tons of rosters, and providing feedback on what I'm seeing in the numerous games I play. I'm very encouraging to those who do the same for the games I love to play, always making sure to be thankful and appreciative for those efforts. I may not be the most constructively-eloquent in how I present my thoughts here, but don't call me out as a bad person. I've done a LOT for this community during the few years I've been here. This nonsense from you should really stop, as all you're doing is perpetuating this idea that your opinion is right and everyone who disagrees with you is wrong. Not true...

If this is what EA believes to be an improvement, I'm sorry but this is an utter joke. There is NOTHING in that video that tells me things will improve. Maybe sliders can fix things - but we've been down this road before where slider tweaks for PASSING mean very little.

Not trying to be mean about this, but even you guys that love hockey would have to admit this looks really bad right now... I have no hope whatsoever after reviewing this video clip. The speed of guys flying through the offensive zone is bothersome as well... Oh well...
one of my biggest gripes as well

You're a "nitpicker", "overly fanatical", "unrealistic", "need to calm down" ... things like this. In simple terms, you're blind and ignorant, a pessimist who should leave OS & be excommunicated.

- if you defend the game, knowing that it's largely the same stuff year in and year out... You're "centered", "respected", "exhibit great patience", "supportive (though clearly NOT an EA apologist)" ... things like this. In simple terms, you're wise and noble, an optimist who should be revered.

It's funny that this turned into an EA vs. 2K debate (at times) - of which I never ever mentioned 2K for a millisecond. But even if this is an "alpha" build - if the idea is smarter AI and more simulation-like hockey, wouldn't EA have at least tuned down the rocket passing & magnetized sticks just a LITTLE BIT??? If this was an NBA or College Hoops game - would passing the ball 500 mph to a guy only 4 feet away, ALWAYS catching those passes (which are always dead on center)... or an NFL or College Football game where the QB passed the ball to his RB in the flats at those same speed and distances - would this really be acceptable??? Come on, that's a joke.
But see, you're only telling half the story. In your original post, you called this game an "utter joke" already, which is unfair. Then you went on to say something along the lines of "Even real hockey fans should should notice how bad the game is." It's just lame when people play that card, because I'm sure as hell a really hockey fan. I watch all the Pens games. I get into the strategy. I keep up with the farm team. But I'll still enjoy NHL 13. When you indirectly insult people's hockey knowledge, it's bound to piss a few people off.
