Online Versus - Wow; there is Little Hope for Humanity

Kind folks-
Apologies for the randomness of this post, but I need some PSN friend therapy. I jumped back online for NHL 12 versus matches after a launch week hiatus...and I'm absolutely horrified.

I couldn't believe the childish, kindergarten-esque displays of individuals continuously running goalies, doing the same exploits (cross crease touch pass, dive swipes) for the entire duration of the game. And, of course, I was powerless to stop this. The sad - and simultaneously amazing - fact of all this was my ability to beat and nearly beat these yahoos. At some point, one would think they'd attempt to actually play the game. Nope. (I did get outshot infinity to 10, however.)

I'm seriously about to abandon all hope on this game in versus - likewise perhaps 2K12 Bball, Madden and FIFA - if some normal people aren't willing to beat me senseless in good sport fashion.

Apologies for the PSN user name add plea (mine is OrngeAlum), but it would be nice to play a game online how it was intended = fun, competitive. I've been playing sports video game for 20+ years, and simply want to enjoy the experience online. I'd also be receptive for your beating me down in other genres of titles we share.

Thanks for humoring, please don't mock. I've had enough Internet-based game frustration for the day. Ugh.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. But i must admit I get a chuckle out of post whistle goalie ramming!

this is the reason why i quit playing "random" online games. these sorry punk kids or punk adults (acting like kids) who play to win or dominate the game to the extent of cheating and robbing us of the enjoyment of having a fair game. if i will be give a wish, one of them is to see how these "punk or trying to be gangsta" attitude on how they are living their lives 10-15 years in from now. i'll bet these are either big losers or politician or perhaps CEO of ENRON-type of company.

Hey - goalie ramming can be fun/ny...just not EVERY DAMN STOPPAGE. Now, if EA would patch for more penalties when doing this ad nausea...then I wouldn't mind it.

If they hit your goalie after the whistle, it doesn't do anything to him.

Only hits during play count towards lowering goalie fatigue.

I have gotten roughing penalties for post-whistle overexuberrance.

If you just skate your body into the goalie after the whistle using the left analog stick, you won't get any penalties called on you.

The only time they call roughing is if you actually check the goalie using the right joystick. Even then, it's rare to see them call a penalty.

I usually just fight anyone who messes with my goalie (the indicator to fight often pops up when they hit the goalie). They'll usually stop running into your goalie after you beat them up in a fight.
