Do you guys use the default tuning and sliders. I'm referring to things like pass speed, shot speed etc... are these things pretty good out of the box for a sim experience. I've never played a current gen NHL and have barely ever watched hockey so it would be VERY hard for me to determine on my own if this game is playing the best it can out of the box. I'm more of a Madden, NCAA, Fifa guy.

I'd also like to know what difficulty I should use. I mostly (90% of the time) will be playing a multi user season with my brother. In madden when we do this I just always pick one notch below the hardest setting, but I'm wondering if my lack of NHL knowledge would make this a bad idea. Should we play on an easy setting? Does it even matter because we are playing each other? lol I'm sorry if I seem like such a newb but I haven't played a hockey game since Genesis days.

Thanks in advance.

The game is a lot more slow-paced out of the box. The only thing I changed was the speed of the game. Real hockey is a lot faster than the default. Everything else though is fine (slider wise)

Your lack of knowledge of the sport may be a little difficult for the hardest, or one below hardest setting.

I'd recommend starting at Rookie for maybe a few games to just get the knack of things, and then bump up the difficulty. Also you can change the play style to casual, normal or hardcore. You might also want to start out casually then gradually work your way up.

Or If you played through the tutorial, just go to Pro and set it to casual for a game or two then bump it to normal. It's whatever your preference is.

I've been playing this series since 93, have played hockey for 20 years and watched it all my life. This game plays fine out of the box. I play on Superstar, Normal, and I play it on standard settings. Some people tweak it with sliders, but really there isn't anything game breaking that NEEDS to be tweaked. Just minor preference things.

I up the game speed as well. If you really want to learn how to play, try OTP once you get comfortable enough offline. If you know what you're doing and your teammates do too, it's more fun than offline.

I would learn to play the game first, then tweak sliders.

Honestly I would start on pro and work through it. The game definitely has a learning curve so take your time and don't get frustrated. I would move up to all star as soon as you are able. On the lower difficulties you are just going to learn bad habits which which won't work later on.
