I've found a way to have your Junior players in the AHL

Pretty simple, really.

I was quite frustrated messing with the rosters and what not trying to get the rosters perfect as I possibly could. I created a whole mess of NCAA prospects (Brendan Smith, Blake Geoffrion, etc.) and sent most of them to their AHL teams. Keep in mind, some of the players I made were just 19 years of age (Brandon Pirri) so I assigned them to the AHL Affiliates of their respective clubs which own their rights. Basically, what I found out was you can assign any player you want to the AHL regardless of how old they are or their Junior elgibility.

All you have to do is:

- Go to ROSTER MOVES before you start your Be-a-GM

- Find the player in Juniors you want to play in the AHL

- Place him on the AHL affiliate that you desire

- Keep in mind, I think they have to have a contract in place

- Start your Be-a-GM

- Now, the tricky part...

Instead of calling him up to play in the pre-season games -- leave him in the AHL for about 9-12 games. He will play in every game you assign him to and after the 9-12 game stint you should be able to call up said player(s) to your NHL team and be able to send them back down to your AHL affiliate without sending them back to Juniors.

Thought I'd share this with all you guys since a lot of you are frustrated with this feature.

The problem, as I see it, is that the only way to assign a player to the AHL is to sign him. You can't sign an 18 year old and assign him to his Junior club as a result which means if you sign a player under 20, he has to play in the NHL or AHL.

You can sign an 18 year old and send him to juniors. The issue is that an 18 year old is not eligible to play the AHL (layman's terms. There's more to it, but I believe that's as in depth as the game goes). You need to be at least 20 years old to be allowed on an AHL roster. If this works (I haven't tried it), then there ya go, there's a way around it.

Specifically, what I've tried was signing an 18 year old (that I had the rights to, not a FA) just after the beginning of the season. When I did, he had to play in the AHL or NHL. I should be able to keep him in the CHL.
