Prospects CHL and Getting them on AHL team?

Once a player is drafted in Be A GM mode, or if they start with the rights, for instance Louis Marc-Aubry in Detroit's system. When do I have the right to put him on the AHL team? Everytime I try to edit lines he is not listed, and I offered him at the begining of the Be A GM before the draft. Any rules I am not aware of?

A player can only play in the AHL once he is 20 years old or more. So, if you have a prospect aged 19, you can sign him to a contract and play him on the pro team, or send him back to junior, that's it.

And once he's played 10 pro games, he cannot be sent back to junior.

I think this is the basic rules that the game follows.

In real life, if the prospect is european, they CAN be sent to the AHL below 20, but in the game they are lumped in with the North American players.

So do I move someone up to the NHL before the season starts?

I know for a fact you are wrong, if they play 10 games a the NHL team has to pay you for the year, he can still be sent back to junior

Uhm,how and where is the option to send them back?
Is this only for players that you sign? What happens to the prospects on the contract screen indicating the player as "unsigned". Will he automatically play in the juniors while I keep the rights on him?
Thx for any help on this.

I started an Edmonton Be-A-GM and signed both Anton Lander and Magnus Pääjärvi (two Swedes, not yet 20) and I sent them both to the AHL. So it seems to be correct.

If you sign them they will automatically be on your NHL roster. Just go to Roster Moves and "send them down". It will warn you before you do though, so you don't accidentally send someone to the Juniors.
The unsigned players are in the Juniors too, I believe.

I thought the rules were different for International players and ones from the CHL? I think International players can start immediately on AHL roster, but your prospects from CHL under 20 go back to Juniors? I have no idea, but I thought that is what I heard. Any clarification would be great.

If they were drafted from the CHL they have to be 20, I think.
