HUT Explained?

Okay guys, I'm 38 and a little slow on the draw...

But I have a question that I'm a bit embarrassed to ask, but I'll ask it anyway:

Can someone explain the specifics of how the HUT system of trading cards works? I have no idea of how it's done... I read things about buying packs or signing guys to contracts... I guess this is an online feature?

Sorry to sound dumb, but I just don't get it, but it sounds fun (kinda like an NHL version of Pokemon?)...okay, that was stupid, I'll admit.

But is there a specific site you can direct me to that gives me the details of how this works....

I played the demo and watched the explanation, but still didn't get it.

Thanks! And my apologies for my ignorance...

Re: HUT Explained?

I'll try and break down the basics of how it works.

Your team is made up of cards. Players, and 'consumables', which consist of contract cards and training cards mostly. When you initially boot up HUT, you'll be given a starter pack with a team (and boy will they be bad). You play games to earn pucks, which you can spend on buying new packs of cards. The packs consist of players and/or consumables. There's different types of packs. More expensive ones contain better cards. Some only contain players, some only consumables.

You can also buy/sell cards on an in-game market. It's pretty much a version of ebay where you can bid on cards and sell ones you don't want/need.

Each player has a certain career length based on how old he is. The career length is the total amount of games you can use him in. All your players are also on contracts. One type of 'consumable' card are contract cards, which you can apply to your players to keep them eligible. If your player runs out of games on his contract, you can't use him until you apply a contract card on him. No matter what, you can't add games to their career number.

You can play offline or online versus, or online or offline tournaments. Each game gives you pucks, and there's a formula that dictates how many pucks you get based on your performance.

There's other variables, like team/line chemistry too. Put the right combination of players on the same line and they'll get a boost. You also get a boost if they're on the same team IRL. Not sure what every situation is you benefit from.

So there you have it. A very poorly organized/simple overview of HUT. Was that kind of what you were looking for?

The more packs you buy, the better your team will be.

You will eventually get some NHL players, yes.

Re: HUT Explained?

cheers levesque, what happens If I buy these packs and then decide to start a HUT team from scratch, do I loose the players that I purchased in the packs? and have to buy them again?

Yes. Also, the better the packs (more expensive), the better the players in it will be.
