Thinking of buying NHL 10

I know 11 comes out soon but I am not concerned so much with updated rosters. What I do like is all the bugs have been fixed and I don't have to wait for the tuning updates and patches to be released.

How is the gameplay and the GM mode?

Is the game overly difficult? Are there a lot of realistic sliders out there?

NHL 11 will surely be more than just updated rosters. I'd wait the two months and buy the better product.

Re: Thinking of buying NHL 10

I never traded 10 in. I have been playing it a bunch lately. I don't plan on trading or selling 10 until I'm confident 11 is good to go.

I will be buying 11 on day one, and plan on putting the game through its paces. But I will not be surprised if the new physics engine takes some time to really nail down. Although I've been super happy with the state this team has released games overall.

But I'd say 10 is a great game, and worth whatever you pay. I can't comment on the progression going forward. I was just happy getting an entire 82 games season, plus two rounds of playoffs in last year.

Last night I just set up the playoffs as they were set this year, and plan on playing every game in the run up to NHL 11's release. I'm shelving NCAA 11 until the next patch.

NHL 10 has its strengths and weaknesses, but overall the good outweighs the bad. I will never get rid of my copy -- mainly because I was able to attend the community day and be a part of the process. But if it were me, I would wait for NHL 11 as it will be out soon and there are many great new additions.

Gameplay is rock solid, best hockey game ever by a country mile. The CPU is a good challenge on the 2 highest difficulty levels but if you are buying it specifically to play offline I would wait for NHL11 as the A.I. needs some work, the CPU usually plays 1 style of game with every team which gets old after awhile, they play keep away on offense and don't generate very many good shooting opportunities.

I've only dabbled in GM mode, it's OK, but the UI is pretty unintuitive and from what I've experienced and heard the trade logic is pretty crappy. A lot of people will be getting rid of their copies soon so you might be able to scoop a copy at a decent price somewhere.

NHL '10' is a great game. And I'm sure you could never go wrong with the price you should be able to get it for by now.

But as already mentioned...the things being added to '11' may very well be worth the short wait. The new physic alone imo, is worth the wait.

Grab NHL 10 used, play it until the '11 demo hits. Trade '10 in towards '11.
