How to Breakawy?

I can never seem to get a 1 on goalie situation when I am playing. There are always two defenders there ready for me. Anyone know the best, most efficient way to get a breakaway

Best bet is to steal the puck from a defensemen at the blue line in your zone, or pick off a pass in the neutral zone and take it the other way. Make sure you use the "push puck forward" function as well.

I don't get many but if you catch the D-men pinching with the puck take him out & if you have a very fast player(LR/RW/C) you can get nice breakaways.

Teams that play aggressive on D will always give up a breakaway every now & then.

Re: How to Breakawy?

I get a few if the d-man doesn't catch me but at the very least I draw a penalty. On the forecheck with a speedy forward poke the puck off the defensemans stick as he tries to clear the zone, then beat him to the puck and you should have a good break away chance.

Also be aware of when your penalties are about to expire. If you have the puck while the opponent is pressuring for the pp goal you can usually make a well played outlet pass to the guy coming out of the box for an easy breakaway.

This is an excellent way of getting a break away!

Something i also noticed on getting increased breakaways and/or increased odd man rushes: i increased the fatigue effect slider, decreased fatigue recovery and increased player acceleration. What these changes do is basically penalize players (cpu or human) for staying out on the ice for too long, and if you have fresh legs on the ice you can expolit these tired players and sometimes even blow right by them.

Don't deke too much when you have a defenseman with his back turned, you'll be better off trying to beat him with your speed, then once you are close to the net try and deke out the goalie

Re: How to Breakawy?

Left Trigger once you get a slight edge on the Dmen and you get a full stridge on him and you have yourself a breakaway..or the dmen will try to poke you so if you keep the park on his far side you will trip and you will get a penalty shot.

As someone stated the Puck Side attack works, and the "break away pass" from a player getting out of the box with a well timed Right Bumper saucer pass from your own zone.
