NHL 10 * The Little Things * Thread

- If you win the Stanley Cup in GM Mode, the announcers will mention it the next season in the regular season opening game

- Rick DiPietro is really active in coming out of his crease and playing the puck like he is in real life

- Players will shake their wrist/hand if they get slashed in that area

- Fans waving towels in the Playoffs

Does he also let in bad goals, and have surgery every year?

I don't know about surgery but he isn't that good in the game so it's pretty authentic.

Had a fight using Komisarek vs Avery. I lost the fight but realized Komisarek was shaking his wrist after the fight and also had a bruised eye afterwards. He's out 2 weeks with an injured wrist.

Yeah, I like the fact players get injured during fights, trying to come back, and are out for a period of time..

also like that they have ejections on penalties as well..

Players shaking their foot after they block a shot.

Re: NHL 10 * The Little Things * Thread

-Crowds. I love seeing a lone Sabre fan going nuts in the midst of an entire section of angry Columbus fans during away games. Stuff like that makes me crack up, makes for some good in-game photos. Fans banging on the glass, fans wearing every variety of team jersey imaginable...THIS is something EA went all out for this year, and it impresses me to no end.

-Black eyes after rougher fights, helmet accessories after facial injuries...never before seen in a hockey title and I'm glad they were able to be included this year.

-One of my "wishlist features" from last year, commentary is a lot more detailed and packed with anecdotes during stoppages. More player and team-specific information per game than I saw from 07-09, and this is a very good thing. Gary and Bill talk about the Sabres missing the playoffs two years in a row after making the Conference Finals two years in a row and how Steve Mason has brought swagger back to the Columbus organization, just to name a few. Also nice to hear Bill Clement say something along the lines of "What an amazing goal by the ex-Minnesota Golden Gopher, from Austria, the always-reliable Thomas Vanek" as a replay of his goal was playing. Commentary hasn't been overhauled but it's the best it's ever been.

-Play a game in a "European Elite League" arena and you'll hear PA announcements in the team's native language. This was a feature in NHL 05-06 last gen and it has made a comeback. Pretty interesting to hear NHL teams and players announced by a Swedish or Finnish announcer.

-Unsportsmanlike minors, double-minors, five minute majors, game misconducts, "three fight ejection" rule...love the penalty variety.

Despite all this, the game needs many more "little things"...such as better arena models and authenticity, specific arena sounds and "signature PA announcements". If this rumored "presentation overhaul" happens next year then we're going to be in for a treat in this department. The work EA Canada is doing on NBA Live 10 should be a good sign that this stuff should be coming soon for the NHL series. And please, EA, bring back the amazing banner raising ceremonies and trophy presentations we saw in NHL 06...this should make the awards you win in Be A GM even sweeter.

One thing they really need to fix is player models. Completely get rid of the generic face models. I'm tired of seeing Komisarek, David Booth, etc all bald and not being able to recognize role players' faces cause they look nothing like their real-life counterparts.

Also tired of seeing player profile photos from 07 and some even 06 season, altho they did update some.
