The "4 game tryout" to start BAP

Well, I scored 8 points in 4 games and led the league in scoring. My position rating was A+ and Team Play was A-. I was still demoted. I'm not sure why they both giving you this "tryout" if it's pre-determined that you'll go back to the AHL anyway.

Anyone been able to stick around with the big club?

This is interesting. Right now I'm about to play my 4th game with PHX. I was drafted first overall and I have 3 pts in 3 games (1 g, 2 a). My team play and positional scores are A's too.

I'll let you know what happens. If I don't stick around on the big club it's going to be very disheartening. I'm clearly the best hockey player on the team outside of Doan and Lombardi.

Video Games Weekly (a radio show here in Minneapolis) had the producer, David Littman, on the show. Littman was a journeyman goaltender with extensive experience in the minors, though he did get a cup of tea in the NHL as well:

He explained that he gets the complaint about BAP being hard a lot, but that they wanted it that way purposefully to give you the idea of what it's like to really feel a sense of accomplishment when you make it to the NHL (and stay there).

while i like the game, that explaination is complete BS. It would be great if the BAP mode was THAT realistic, but even when i make it to the NHL, lead the entire league in scoring, i still end up with a crappy contract offer and the "you're lucky anyone is even offering you a contract" nonsense.

Same here, I was a dangler drafted #1 by the leafs with similiar stats in 4 games and A's across the board and was still sent down. Realisticly, even if you're the next Alexandre Daigle, anyone ranked 1-5 or even 1-10 in the draft would probably get a decent amount of ice time their first year unless they were completely imploding. I don't think Tavares is getting sent away this year just because he didn't have a goal yet in his first 4 games.

The bottom line is the prospect game is simply the games way to randomize who drafts you.(other than the stat boosts and equipment you can unlock from it)

I guess as an experiment you could play a BAP on rookie difficulty sometime with all the sliders favoring the user and get some ridiculous stats and see what happens.

I just finished my 4th game as a d-man for the sens and I was told that they were keeping me up. So it can happen.

I wonder if it's smart enough to take salaries and positions into consideration.
Could be why the last poster stayed up as a d man.
I'll try and finish up my other two tonight as a power forward and see what happens

well, that's cool to know that you can stay up. I was on the B's, so obviously they have plenty of firepower up front without me. But I was a little miffed, considering Bergeron and I were dominating the league.
