Of course the AI ideally wouldn't need to cheat and the amount of cheating is getting smaller as we improve the AI. It isn't any easy problem to solve.

If so can and how are they turned off , oh probably all the new sliders options ? right

I'm 99.9% sure its slider based, sort of like presets for difficulty level that now since we have cpu sliders the game will be alot more tweakable.

I can't stop playing it. I have no doubt that I'm absolutely going to love the game this year. Its a 5 min period, but should it be tied it goes on for as many 5 min overtime periods as it takes to get a game winner.

The game is so completely organic this year, I think thats whats keeping me playing it. Anything can happen, any bounce can turn into a scoring chance or a goal, when you add all the other tweaks and improvements, better neutral zone pressure, better teammate AI, being able to swipe at loose pucks, the new animations like guys batting pucks out of the zone or gloving a puck down. Stick lifts being harder to pull off and a big time penalty risk if you miss or abuse it, the awesome puck physics and the removal of pretty much all the suction, the great board play. I could prolly go on for another paragraph or two just how many subtle changes there are this year that makes the game not only much more realistic but an absolute blast to play.

The more I play, the more variety I am seeing to the game. I actually just played a bunch of games on Pro and was enjoying it a lot. The computer opens up in the neutral zone a little more, but they still press the blue line and break up passes / forecheck when trailing / etc.

I had a crazy goal with Detroit(cpu) scrambling down 3-2 in the final minute and Rafalski shoots one glove side on Fleury - the puck bounces off a defenseman in front of him, over Fleury and across the crease to Holmstrom (I believe). Fleury flops into the net to do anything he can to get a pad on it. Holmstrom finally stuffs it under his pad after a couple of whacks to send it to OT.

Never saw anything like it in probably 600+ games of '09

Agree.. they will probably focus on presentation next year because the game play is incredible. That's not to say presentation is horrible, because it's not. All I have to say is 2k better bring the fun game play back, without that, the presentation takes a back seat for me.

Agreed, 2k can have all the flashy intros and nice looking arenas they want, and don't get me wrong, both of those are awesome things, but if the game still feels and plays alot like 2k9 all the flashy presentation in the world isn't going to make it a good game. NHL10 absof'inlutely nails it in the gameplay department. If they blow out presentation next year (which I'm figuring they will considering its an aniversary year for the NHL series) We'll have the best of both worlds. And really I still think EA's commentary is leagues above, theres a ton of new lines in the demo while 2k10 still sounds like the same stale 5 plus year old badly delivered script, which to me really detracts from 2k's presentation in the first place.

I was initially disappointed with the lack of improvements in the presentation dept. But the more that I play the demo, the less I notice - b/c the gameplay is SO freaking good. This title has achieved something remarkable - it accurately reflects the fast paced, chaotic nature of hocky. Every game feels totally unique and less "scripted" than any other sports game I've played.

However, I'd still like to see better crowds and post-goal celebrations, but those won't stop me from playing this game for a long, long time.
