Help Changing Strategies

I change the strategies in the starting lineup screen. Almost never changes. Then, I pause before the game to check if it worked. If it doesn't, I'll change it then. Now, it almost never works after that try. I spend a good majority of every first period I play trying to figure out if the changes have been applied. It usually works after the third try. by the way-This happens offline and online both for me. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? I never remember this happening like this. Did it have anything to do with patches or updates. Thanks in advance if anyone has any answers.

Re: Help Changing Strategies

The only time changes will stick is if you do them when the puck has been dropped and the clock is ticking. Trying to change anything between face-offs is never going to work. If you are playing offline you could pause the game after the puck has been dropped and make your changes.

You would think that changing strategies and pressure levels would most easily been done during a stoppage of play. But instead you have to do this while at the same time trying to play defense or offense. It's a very crappy system.

You actually can do it just before the puck drops as well, once they show them lining up for a faceoff. That's when I try to do it although your time is limited and if your not quick enough you'll lose the draw for sure. During any of the cut-scenes though, will not work.

Re: Help Changing Strategies

I find it works like ether mentioned.
Essentially after you press the start button and the clip of the players going on the ice rolls, press the "a" button or any button to say that you're ready. Don't hit start here and bother making any changes, just another button so they know you're ready to go to the face off.
When the other person has pressed this button or the 30 seconds expires, it'll go to the faceoff to start the game.

Press start now and change your strategies, it will now stick for the game.

In game and in cut scenes changing of strategies and lines needs to be worked on, it's very difficult to perform this. You have to wait until the action starts after a cut scene, which makes no sense at all.

Great game overall, some minor bugs like this to tweak out still.

Re: Help Changing Strategies

Does this also hold true with the Dpad changes? I am still getting that aspect down, but it makes a huge difference.

Re: Help Changing Strategies

You don't have to stop the game and make the changes in the menu. Your offensive and defensive strategies are determined by which set of lines you have showing when you are doing manual line changes. You see which strategy is active underneath the line combos, cycle through them by pressing the Δ button. In that same spot underneath the line combos your options to change offensive strategies are different when you are on the PP and defensive ones differ when on the PK.

Same thing applies to using the d-pad for offensive and defensive pressure, you need to pick the one you want either while the game is being played or just as they are lining up for the faceoff. I personally think the entire system works fantastically, but I'm used to it now. Only way to make it better is to somehow make the changes stick when cpu is in a cut-scene but you can't pick which line starts a period either so obviously there are some bugs to be worked out.
