An Expansion Draft Dynasty

I know that you cannot do one in a game but you guys could help me do one right here on Operation Sports. Everyone could chose a team and choose the players that that team would most realistically protect. You can do as many teams as you would like. Here are the rules for protecting players- you can protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. So for example i'll start us off and do the Buffalo Sabres

Protected

Goalies
Ryan Miller
Jhonas Enroth

Defensemen
Craig Rivet
Henrik Tallinder
Toni Lydman

Forwards
Max Afinogenov
Thomas Vanek
Derek Roy
Ales Kotalik
Jason Pominville
Drew Stafford
Tim Connolly

Now I could take anyone else from the Sabres that is not on that list this will be a lot of fun can't wait to see who you protect

Re: An Expansion Draft Dynasty

Montreal Canadiens

Forwards

Saku Koivu
Alex Kovalev
Andrei Kostitsyn
Tomas Plekanec
Guillaume Latendresse*
Chris Higgins
Sergei Kostitsyn
Alex Tanguay*

Defense
Andrei Markov
Mike Komisarek
Roman Hamrlik

Goaltender
Carey Price
Jaroslav Halak

I know I have eight forwards however I cannot decide who would be favored as management loves Lats. So you make the judgment call if you want either, if I personally were to vote. I would protect Tanguay or Lats.

Another important rule from the 1998 expansion draft.

First- and second-year pros were exempt from being selected in the draft. Each of the 26 franchises in the league were allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen and seven forwards.

Re: An Expansion Draft Dynasty

Washington Capitals

Goalies
Michael Neuvirth
Simeon Varlamov

Defensemen
Mike Green
Jeff Schultz
Tom Poti / Brian Pothier / Milan Jurcina / John Erskine

Forwards
Alex Ovechkin
Alex Semin
Nick Backstrom
Brooks Laich
Tomas Fleischmann
Viktor Kozlov
Eric Fehr

I guess my thinking is that Federov's age would prevent him from being selected. Also, I wouldn't protect Theodore or Johnson because, chances are, the expansion team would select one of the two, at most, and the remaining one could start with Varlamov/Neuvirth backing him up. I really have no idea who the 3rd defensemen would be.
