My Quest to be the Best Online in NHL 09

Online gaming has become very popular in the last decade. One reason it has become so popular is because people love to compete. And when people compete, they do so to see who is best. However, in the online world, it seems that no matter how good you are, there is always someone better. Still, inevitably, someone has to be number one -- even in the online realm.

So with that thought in mind, I recently began my quest to become the number one online player in NHL 09. Here is a little of what I have encountered during my endeavor

Hey man glad to see someone that actually doesn't cheese hopefully make the top 100. I play cheese free and can only manage a 500. record of 50-50.

"This game unfortunately does not reward hard work enough, but rather lame tactics that manipulate the formula for scoring goals. For you see, it is much easier to just do simple moves like walking out from the corner and sniping short side against the grain, than it is to say set up a point shot and blast one low blocker side."

That quote right there says it all and is what the NHL team needs to really work on.

Re: My Quest to be the Best Online in NHL 09

Well Patrick Williams I sure hope I don't come across you then. I am not going to let go of my sense of right and wrong just to win. Taking advantage of the AI logic, AI short comings, and all these chessy issues people come across online is wrong. There is not way to explain it to me to make it seem right. Bottom line is taking the "win at any extent" approach is what is wrong with the online community.

People have lost all forms of the "Honor system". I think it also directly reflects where as a society we have come. I know that might seem like a stretch but I honestly feel we as a society have declined in compassion, honor, respect, etc. I think this shows aswell in online gaming. Just my opinion though.

Want to avoid cheese! Join an online league! Ok, maybe there's still cheese, but at least there are consequences.

What do you call the EASHL? It's one huge league that is so cluttered with cheesers and cheaters, it's pathetic.

I mean private, online league. They seem to have the best self-policing.

Not just NHL, but online sports gaming in general. Show me one game that doesn't have exploits that are staples of every gamer on the top of the leaderboards.
