Orion's NHL 13 Slider Set

Although not a slider guru by any means, I think I've come up with a set that really captures the feel of NHL Hockey when witnessed live, fast hard nosed and hard hitting. Hopefully you guys agree.

Using the skating and shooting practice modes, I honed in skating and shot speed to be as realistic as possible. Using these slap shots average in the high 80's to low 90's range with the highest I've seen being Charra at 106.4. Wristers average in the high 60's low 70's. As for skating, I used the in game timer to time different players doing a lap around the rink in the same way it was done in the older skills competitions, the fastest player was right around 14 seconds while most hovered in the 15 sec range. As for the rest of the sliders I DO NOT take any credit whatsoever, I borrowed a lot from Al Tito and Savoie, who's sliders I used to base these off of. Truthfully I wasn't even going to update the set but since the thread has already been created it gives me a handy space to keep track of what I'm using.

I'm going to start posting some game stats in order to keep track of things, here's what I'm aiming for:

Shots: About 29-30 per game, per team
Goals: 5.3 per game(combined)
Hits: 44 per game(combined)
Passing %: 70's(estimated, NHL doesn't keep this stat)
Power Play Opps: Roughly 3 per team per game
Shot Accuracy: Overlooked a lot, I did some research and found that roughly 29% of shots taken actually miss the net.

These look good and I like what you're shooting for stat-wise. Do you see many penalties with these? And have you tested these in Be a GM or just Play Now? Thanks

Right now I've just been testing in Play Now, but now that I have a good base I'll be moving into Be A GM. As for penalties, we're just at the mercy of the game engine so I'm not going to go crazy over it. So far I've been averaging 2-3 for each side per game.

First change is upping period lengths to 9mins. It may acutually need to go to 10, but for now I'll keep it an 9. As I get better, the game is getting much tighter, with better passing, hitting, and defense all of which is limiting chances. Here's the first game with 9 minute periods

I should mention in the game above, Hartnell was hit with a game misconduct for boarding midway thru the 3rd. Another thing, during these play now tests, I'm going to choose random teams, that way I get a good idea of how these are working leaguewide

Next game, Devils at Flyers(random again!) Very close game until the third where Brodeur melted down, allowing two quick goals to Read and Giroux with about 5 mins to go. Talbot added an empty netter to rub it in.

After about 10 games or so, here's the changes:

Dropped penalty time scaling to 0, power plays(when they happened) seemed to last forever compared to game time. I'm much happier with this setting.

Hitting power dropped to 2 for both Human and CPU. At one hits have no weight at all, but at three it was just two much. Two is well...perfect!

I've upped goalie passing to 2 just because at 1 they looked really wonky.

Finally goalie screen effect has been upped to 4/4 in order to hopefully improve goal scoring. Out of the 10 or so games I played, I rarely reach the 5 goal mark so hopefully this adds some spark.
