Player Rating Updates

I think that we should all make player ratings based on real life stats and personal opinions because i think we could do much better than the actual rankings. If anyone could do a team that they are very familiar with that works and other fans of that team could tweak it until we get final roster ratings for each team as i am currently updating ratings in the "edit player" mode but of course i am only knowledgeable with the bruins and about 5-10 players on every other team.

NHL 11 Rosters Going into 2012 (Boston Bruins)
LW Lucic 84 C Krejci 84 RW Horton 84
LW Marchand 82/83 C Bergeron 85 RW Seguin 79/80
LW Kelly 80 C Peverley 80 RW Ryder 80
LW Paille 78 C Campbell 79 RW Thornton 77

Chara 90 Seidenberg 83
Ference 80 Boychuk 79/80
McQuaid 79/80 Kaberle 82/83

Thomas 92
Rask 84

Notes/Scratched Players
Mark Recchi 80-Retired
Marc Savard 84-Injured
Steven Kampfer 77-Scratched

Feel free to give suggestions

Re: Player Rating Updates

Marchand an 83? 76-79 is more fair until he proves the playoffs were not a fluke. He's my favorite Bruins player since he played Junior here, but whatever.

I'll do Montreal... not really with lines but whatever, also with rosters as of the end of last season as I'm iffy as to what their team will be next year.

Brian Gionta 84-Scott Gomez 78-Max Pacioretty 82
Mike Cammalleri 85-Tomas Plekanec-85-Andrei Kostitsyn 83
Mathieu Darche 77-Lars Eller 76-Ryan White 74
Travis Moen 78-Jeff Halpren 77-David Deshernais 78

Josh Gorges 81-Andrei Markov 86
P.K Subban 83-Hal Gill 78 (big on defensive awareness, not much else)
Roman Hamirlik (UFA) 79-Yannick Weber 76 (B/B- potential)

Carey Price 89
Alex Auld 77

Jaroslav Spacek 77
Tommy Pyatt 75
Alex Picard 75
Brent Sopel 76
Paul Mara 77

May have underrated a couple of forwards, especially Gomez. He had a bad year, but should rebound moderately well.

Some top end NHLers

Alex Ovechkin 94
Sidney Crosby 95
Evgeny Malkin 90
Daniel Sedin 92
Henrik Sedin 90
Joe Thornton 90
Zdeno Chara 88
Martin St. Louis 90
Steven Stamkos 90
Ryan Kesler 91

Re: Player Rating Updates

Well marchand did have 21 goals and 20 assists which is why i think he should be at least an 80 but your prob right 83 to high thanks for montreals ratings looks pretty good to me! And even though gomez had sucha off year i think hes worthy of and 81-83

Re: Player Rating Updates

I'll do the Flames, [The Changes I make are either < or > and are in bold].

Calgary Flames:
Iginla 92 Stays the same
Kiprusoff 89 <88
Bouwmeester 85 <84
Jokinen 84 <83
Bourque 83 >84
Sarich 82 <81
Hagman 82 <80
Stajan 82 <80
Tanguay 82 >84
Langkow 82 <79
Giordano 81 >85
Glencross 79 >82
Moss 78 >79
Pardy 77 >79

Out of the Flames, for NHL 12, Giordano and Tanguay deserve to have an increased rating of at least +2-3.

Re: Player Rating Updates

i really like/agree with the changes you made for the flames but wheres the rest of the team? Yours seem really accurate to real life stats so itd be great if you can do the rest of em, unless the other players on the roster you dont think need to be changed

Re: Player Rating Updates

Wild:

Bouchard 82 - Koivu 85 - Setoguchi 82
Latendresse 82 - Brodziak 80 - Havlat 84
Powe 76 - Cullen 78 - Clutterbuck 80
Nystrom 76 - Madden 77 - Staubitz 76

Zidlicky 81 - Schultz 80
Zanon 77 - Stoner 76
Cuma 76 - Spurgeon 75

Backstrom 86
Harding 81

May have overvalued some of the players. Lines based on what I believe they will be at the start of next season.

Re: Player Rating Updates

The problem here is that you guys are going based on Overalls and those probably matter the least of all the ratings. The ratings that should be focused on are those important to the type of player. You can change any number of ratings to boost the overall and that doesn't neccesarily make the player's ratings more realistic.

I completely agree with this. That is why I always thought that the players style should affect the overall and more the way they play in the game (Especially when simulating). A playmaker with 99 in passing, puck control, dekeing and off. awareness is an elite playmaker, but the fact that he can have a low shooting attribute will make him only a 80 overall. If it takes in account that the player is suppose to be a playmaker, then he should be a 88, maybe 90 overall player in its style, but if you change it to a sniper, his overall will go down a lot. Mostly like in madden I think. That way, it would be easier to see who's a great passer and who's not. Or at least, make 6 general overalls for each players to ease it up : Playmaking, shooting, defensive play, physical play, skating and intangibles. Then, tweak the ratings from that : A playmaker would have his overall consisting of 40% playmaking, 10% shooting, 10% defensive play, 10% physical play, 15% skating and 15% intangibles, for example (These are just numbers to illustrate my POV), whereas and all around player would likely be 15%-15%-20%-10%-20%-20%.

Also, I just hope the new sim engine will fix the playmakers with "okay" attributes in shooting to get like 60 or 70 assists a year, just like H. Sedin. I don't know why, but usually, if your player is an amazing sniper but a poor settler, he'll still have like 50 or 60 assists while the one that allows him to score will only get 50 points. It happens a lot like this with the twins in 11.
