NHL 09 360 updates (community effort)

I'm updating all trades including AHL and ESHL leagues right now. But I was wondering if people could give me the CAPS then we could have an updated Roster. Just post the caps in order that it follows on the create a character. I'll have this done by Thursday night and I'll upload em for you.

Here is an article by Darren Dreger of www.TSN.ca/nhl/ that briefly breaks down the "Top 20" NHL rookies for the 08-09 season. It's not much, but you could cross-reference that list with www.hockeysfuture.com to get more info about each player. Their prospect bios are usually rather informative, with a decent description of the player's strengths and weaknesses.

I used HF (along with THN's draft & Future Watch issues) when I did prospect caps in previous years. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to do it now or I would help.

PS - Remember to keep rookies/prospects Poise ratings at 70 or below, as this keeps their overall 3-4 points lower and will help to keep guys on lower lines or in the minors. This way you can give them good ratings in the stronger aspects of their games without having inflated OVRs.

Updated that, thanks. Did a little research over at www.nhlscap.com to find their actual cap hits:

Berglund - $1,246,667
Oshie - $1,275,000

Since the possibility of the players re-opening labor negotiations after this season exists, all possible performance bonus figures on entry-level contracts count against the 08-09 cap (most of which are reached by guys who play in the NHL for the season). As such, these should be their "salary" figures for NHL 09, even though their actual salaries are both $850K. Guys who were top picks actually have cap hits in the $2-3M+ range:

Stamkos - $3,725,000
Doughty - $3,475,000
Bogosian - $2,725,000
Pietrangelo - $2,225,000
Schenn - $2,225,000

Since cap hits are based on the average yearly value over the life of a player's contract, using straight salary numbers wouldn't be accurate in the in-game cap system. I think EA does a decent job with this in their rosters, although there are always a few that could be adjusted. However, sometimes you run into trouble with the in-game salary cap when dealing with teams that have guys with the long-term injury (LTI) status or when guys sign extensions that don't kick in until the 09-10 season (eg, Malkin or anyone else that signed an extension while still in the final year of their previous deal).
