Since they already have FIFA 14 on X1/PS4, how much more work would they really have to do to make the World Cup game a reality on next-gen?. They have all of the countries kits, flags, fans, tourney structure, etc. ready to go for the 360/PS3, really how much time would it take to put that into the a next gen version? It's not like they are creating the engine for next gen, they already have it. It's not like the World Cup snuck up on them, they were talking about having a next gen World Cup game last year. I'm sure I'm missing something, but it just seems like this is a dumb decision.

Being a person that does not follow the MLS or Premiere League very closely at aall, but does get very interested in the World Cup, I hate that this game is not on next gen. I did purchase FIFA 14 for PS4 (only because of the amazon buy 1, get 1 deal), but I've never bought another soccer game other than World Cups. I like playing with the USA and I love going through the qualifying stages. It just seems stupid that EA had planned to put this out on next gen and now they are not and their reasons arent very good IMO.

90-95% of their WC game sales would have come from PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers anyway, so what's not to understand? It's about getting the biggest return, and with the least amount of time and money invested.

Why did EA make a Madden and FIFA for next gen?

I think 90-95% is probably a little high of an estimate, but I understand your point. My point is that most of the "legwork" was already done. I'm not sure how much extra time and money it would cost to basically port this over to the next gen just to have a game on those systems. My argument is they already have the next gen foundation in FIFA 14. How much time and money would it cost to modify that game to a World Cup game?

I'm assuming a port wouldn't be as easy as it sounds. A port would also be slightly disappointing when compared to next gen fifa.

This is surprising. The only game that I have time to play is FIFA, and I love the World Cup games, so I planned to use my tax return to buy a PS4/XB1 when this game came out. I'll still buy the game on the 360, but EA saved me ~$500.

I wonder if the game will be available through PlayStation Now? If so, maybe that had an impact on their release decision.

Your move, EA.
I'm not sure I'd take a port, but I'd settle for a game with just the essential elements. Could probably do without every stadium, maybe a dumbed down presentation, and just keep the game at full price 'till the next World Cup.
