2 goals from 23 shots on target?

I do not even know which question to ask ...

I just finished a match that went into extra time ... I had an astounding 23 shots on target ... and I was only able to score 2 goals (and one of those was on a set piece ... so I was actually 1 for 22 from open play!).

I have had this game since Christmas ... I have probably played about 50+ total matches (15 mins per half) across kick-off mode and my two career modes ... and I have only scored 2 goals in a match twice.

I acknowledge that when I first got started with FIFA14 I needed to get used to the game ... it took 20+ matches before I began to feel like I really knew what I was doing. But now I am in control with everything EXCEPT goal scoring ... I maintain ~55% possession, the tackles are usually even between the two sides (which is very nice) around 25, I am seeing around 82% on pass completion for both sides ... all of this is quite good.

I am trying all sorts of variety ... shots from outside the box, shots from the 6-yard-area, headers, finesse shots, keeping my shot low, going for power ... everything. The CPU goalkeepers have been man-of-the-match every time (they average 15+ saves per match).

I feel like I am *really* close to breaking through! I just cannot quite get the last bit. What could I possibly be doing wrong? Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I did not put this post in my "Questions (and Answers)" thread because I am not really contributing anything useful here ... I am just grasping at straws and hoping for some tangible advice.

In my opinion, the CPU's keeper ability should be about 20 below the User's (on WC or Legendary). I think you'll start seeing the same percentages of goals related to shots on target.

Too much handicap/scripting though. One example of the handicap would be you losing lots of input during your experience so that your AI can do lots of position fixing to help make your opponents experience easier. You or the opponent getting a helping hand from the engine and even if this has to come at the expense of the other being forced to do poorly.

The shots are not the problem.

The problem is the CPU keeper saves. If you check after any game where you have any amount of shots you will always see the save count almost equal to your shot count.

If you have 8 shots and win 2-1 I would bet the CPU keeper had at least 5 saves.

If you had 18 shots and won 2-0 I bet the CPU keeper had 14 saves.

The was a study done in 2011 that showed across European competition the average amount of saves per game was close to 3.

With average shots per game around 13.

We could also discuss the high rate of hitting the post in this game.

right average is like 1 goal per 14-15 shots.

also, what team are you using?

use Goniras sliders. And if you are using a lower sode with non world class hoal scorers, its hard to score on harder difficulty
