Yeah I noticed that as well, couldn't get thru one game on legendary it's so bad (seems worse than ever actually). I've since been able to apply global edits to the database and have been having fair and fun games on legendary, so there is hope for the full game.

Sorry but whats global edits. Do u mean to say the slider settings we all used to do in FIFA 13 for legendary? Also if its any configuration file pls provide me link. I m using Origin client so will ibe able to do the changes??

Also I played one more game. Dortmund (me again) against red bulls. Though I lost 1-0 again on world class (not legendary), but there was some changes in the attacking sense of red bulls. They kept more possession than me for the first time but I think I m getting the hang of it. Since I m playing manual controls so I think the only thing I need to do for myself is that there should be a little pass error for CPU which I will try coz theirs passing is pin-point. Also I will need to look into the defense point of view coz my defense had never been that good in FIFA 13 also. If any pointers for defense without changing the sliders then do provide.

No, I mean editing the game's database and globally editing player ratings. I do that to tone down and eliminate the CPU boosts on Legendary as I only play on that difficulty. Editing tools for the PC are available at soccergaming.com. I may upload my edited db here as well, I'm just doing some fine-tuning on it at the moment.

i'm trying to realize how you're able to tone down difficulty editing player ratings. this would mean making the team you play stronger than the others, right? don't you think it's much easier and more efficient to do that using sliders?

All players are edited, so there's a drop in overall ratings for every player in the game. I'll give you a couple of examples of what I look to do:

Lowering speed and accel ratings prevents the CPU from always reaching passes, meaning more turnovers, less shots on goal AND, as an added bonus, lower CPU pass completion percentages.

Also, some ratings are much worse than others for tilting the gameplay balance in the CPU's favor: vision and reaction for example. Lower those and the CPU cannot connect with all those seeing-eye crosses and headers, or react with the ability of a psychic-ninja. Neither of those ratings affect User player control and ability, they only affect CPU player behavior.

I've been thinking trying my hand at DB editing for 14, starting with changing speed and accel for all players to slow the game down. I thought of multiplying the speed and accel values of all players by a factor sufficient to achieve the pace I'm looking for. Do you do that or something similar for your edits?

Possible and easy to do because you use Excel to edit the database. I know two of the guys at soccergaming who edit in the manner you're describing. What I do is different. I take one value and spread the ratings out from 1-99, or 1-79, or 60-99 (all depending on the particular rating), with the majority of ratings in the bottom range. Basically I'm doing the opposite of how EA utilizes ratings. They essentially only use about a 50-95 scale for all ratings, with most ratings in the top range.

EDIT - I just checked: in the FIFA 14 demo, the average speed rating is 72. In my db the average speed rating is 14.

I don't want to hog the impressions thread but I just have to mention this: Speed and accel ratings in particular are a good example of why FIFA requires editing in order to create a truly sim football experience. EA assigns high speed and accel ratings to players on the top tier teams. Likewise they assign low speed and accel ratings to players on the low tier teams. This isn't close to realistic obviously. Every league should be equally full of players who run fast or slowly, and who accel quickly or slowly. It's the skill ratings like ball control, finishing and tackling that should differentiate top tier players from lower tier players. That's one of the issues you have to find a resolution to if you decide to edit ratings.
