FIFA 11 'Settings' discussion

I thought it would be good to have a thread where we can discuss our different setup combinations for FIFA 11.

If you're anything like me, you will play 100 friendly matches testing out various gameplay options before getting your teeth sunk in to Manager Mode or a longer term game style.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist in terms of chasing the ultimate 'playability', so I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

I've literally just got home with the game, so I'll post some feedback shortly.

Re: FIFA 11 'Settings' discussion

Here is what I intend to start with. The biggest issue I debate each year is the controller settings. While I love the realism of FIFA and the fact you have to meticulously aim your passes and shots, it frustrates me when I continually put balls out of play. As such, I'll see how I go with a balanced 'semi assisted' setup. I'd be keen to hear how others configure their controller settings.

Match Settings
Half length: 8 minutes
Difficulty: Professional
Handballs: On (not penalties)

Controller Settings
Auto switching: Air balls
Aust switching move assistance: None
Passing power assistance: Off
Pass assistance: Semi
Through pass assistance: Manual
Shot assistance: Semi
Cross assistance: Semi
Lob pass assistance: Manual
Save assistance: Semi
Analog sprint: Off

Re: FIFA 11 'Settings' discussion

Here is the result and stats from game one:

Liverpool 1 Sunderland 0

Shots 15-5
On target 7-2
Possession 55%-45%
Tackles 32-25 (this was even at half time)
Fouls 12-6
Yellow 5-0 (I'm very ill-disciplined)
Red 0-0
Offside 1-0
Corners 1-0

Pretty happy with how that played out despite the easy tackling. I'll play a few more games and see how it goes. The goal was a Torres breakaway after receiving the ball, turning on a dime and out-sprinting the defenders before applying a cool finish. Had the chance to do it again later, but shot wide right.

I am not exactly sure what time I should use for realistic stats in terms of tackles, passes and distance traveled. Anyone have a good idea on what time is good to get realistic stats?

Everyone seems to be complaining about tackling being too easy in FIFA 11. What difficulty are you playing on? Is tackling easy on all difficulties? When you mean by easy, do you mean that when you press X or O, they steal the ball from the dribbler every time?

I find playing on legendary is the best so far, tackling seems difficult at times, specially when it is star studded players running with the ball, but if you have a stud defensive player you will still be able to make those big defensive plays.

I'm playing on Professional.

You don't even need to press a button to tackle. Just run in to an opposing player and you will walk away with the ball the vast majority of the time.

If you press L2 to "square up" to the player when running with him, you will win it every time. It's driving me insane. I just want to play a FIFA without some stupid gameplay problem like this. It's a game killer as far as I'm concerned.

I'll keep playing on various difficulties and options, but everything else is damn near perfect, which blows.
