Re: EA Sports FC Announced

World Cup content coming in FIFA 23. That's the only valuable info in this. The rest is "we're changing our name but it's MORE than a name change!!!!" nonsense.

This also seems like a great excuse for EA to mail it in for FIFA 23 and and give us a 22 reskin. Not that we expected anything else at this point, but advertising for a game that's releasing a year after a currently unreleased game seems like a great way for them to do nothing in FIFA 23.

One good thing I could see coming from this "July 2023" stuff is that maybe this game will actually release before the beginning of the season instead two months after the season starts at of the end of September like FIFA does... It would compete with Madden and NCAA so who knows if that'll happen but it would be nice.

Would be great of they actually did that, as opposed to keeping **** the same as to not offend the people who spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on packs in FUT. I think we know what they will do.

It is much more than a name change. The partnership between EA and FIFA is over. That is a big deal

After all these years of dreaming of the day FIFA would end its exclusivity agreement, Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution / eFootball is the worst it has ever been…monkey paw situation.

it will be interesting to see how this plays out.....EA has the model in place and will churn away as usual with cash cow ultimate team in place and FIFA will venture off with their own games coming down the road in the future. so are the world cup content and fifa teams the only thing sacrificed in this deal? will FIFA 23 be the last to include the world cup and fifa teams?

Is it though? Nothing is changing in licensing. The name on the box is different but nothing else is changing for EA.

There will be a 3rd simulation soccer game (made by maybe 2k sports?), so that could be a good thing in the long run but based on the horrific downfall of PES and the lack of competition they are to EA I wouldn't bet on this new FIFA funded game being worth playing any time in the near or long term future.
