I'm playing as Chelsea in a Manager Career Mode. My current tactical set up in a 4-2-3-1 has:
- striker set as advanced forward (Marcus Thuram I signed in first January window to rotate with Nico Jackson)
- LM set as a winger to provide width on that side (rotating between Sancho, Mudryk and Neto)
- RM set as an inside forward with attacking focus (Palmer backed up by Madueke)
- RB set as an attacking wing back to provide width in attack on the right (James and Gusto)
- CAM I have set as 2nd striker (Nkunku backed up by Felix)
My main problem is with the CAM role. Even set as "2nd striker" he is occasionally dropping deep in the build up, which I do like, but then not getting into the box as much as I'd like.
With my RM getting into the right half-space what I really want is my CAM to get into the left half-space. With him listed as a central attacking-mid though and not a left-attacking-mid how do I make sure he stays left and doesn't crowd the right-mid in that right-half-space?
My second, and semi-related, problem is that without someone in the left-half-space my LM sometimes ends up coming further inside than I'd like. Even set with a "winger" role my LM occasionally comes inside and with my LB set as a "fullback/defend" he doesn't get forward and I end up with no attacking width on that side.
I'm hoping if I could keep my CAM in that left half-space, then the LM would stay wide and I could switch the ball out to him.
