Gameplay unlock- no coaches!

So I think I found something. I was playing with FC St Pauli, had all the coaches hired etc, had the +5 boost on most positions, and I was just dominating. After 13 matches I was 6 points clear top of table. And what made less sense was how the games felt. I won most 50/50s, CPU team lacked aggressiveness and fight. I walked through most games. So, I restarted and only hired the required one coach, hired a one star and put them on goalkeeper. It’s night and day. Games are competitive as they should be with roughly equally rated squads. I won one 3-0 and got beat 3-1. I had to fight hard to win first round Pokal match vs a 3.Bundesliga side. 50/50s are as they should be and the CPU teams have aggressiveness and fight. Makes me wonder if the coaching boost works by nerfing your opponent instead of actually boosting your team. Either way, check it out.

So you discovered that games are easier when your whole squad has a +5 boost and more difficult when they don’t?

Hardly the discovery of the century lol. What else did you expect?

Also, correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t even have to hire one coach do you? Pretty sure you can have zero coaches but I could be wrong.

You're correct.

The best thing about this dreadful (IMO) new system is that if you ignore it you barely get any boosts at all. And if you ignore the training drills, you don't get those boosts (playstyles?) either.

So in order to get the best experience I need to purposely ignore (or actively work against) the "features" EA introduces. It's laughable.

Ok smartass. Apparently I did not explain it properly. Of course I would expect games to get easier. The amazing part to me is that the COU plays much differently. More aggressive. More engaged. More variety in attack and defense. It’s a much better game overall.

Would you rather it wasn’t in the game at all or you were forced to use it?

I like the feature, you don’t. I use it, you don’t. We’re both happy. Is that not the ideal situation?

If only the “classic” attributes setting meant no stats increase from coaches but quicker training a new position or skills.

Btw OP if you have a custom tactics system those bronze one star coaches always stay bronze - no coach XP picked up from wins.

I’m not a fan either of only the user having boosted players. Thanks for reminding me I should try this.

I have to actively avoid using certain key features of the game mode because otherwise my experience will be ruined. That's far from ideal in my view.

I'd want a deep system with coaches, where you'd need the right personnel for your system etc., but having unrealistic boosts (e.g. 6+ speed) handed out like candy on Halloween is to me nothing short of a joke.

So are the board objectives.
So are the contract objectives in player career mode.

I enjoy this game despite how much I despise several decisions made by the developers/EA.
