Wowza. Still seeing them right now on the Microsoft Store on my XBox S.

I bought FIFA 23 and have it downloaded right now. I don't know how this digital games go. Should I never delete it now? Or will I still be able to re-download it since I actually bought the game?

EA removed Madden 20 awhile back from their digital store but I had previously purchased it, so I was still able to re-download recently it from my inventory.

FIFA will probably work the same (if you already bought it, it'll still be re-downloadable). If there are any other versions you bought digitally on XBox, I would just see if you can still download them; that should provide an answer to your question.

That's good, that's what I would hope. If not, I'll be hating myself for not buying the Series X with the disc drive.

Only the 23 I've bought, I've only had the Series S for a short time. Looking like I made a good call for buying 23.

You will be able to re download going forward. The game remains in your digital library. Its just no longer for sale digitally.

This is why I hated and will always hate the move away from physical disc sales.
Hopefully if they ever do stop offering them altogether, they give us a burnable disc file or an option to order a disc. I asked them once a few years ago what happens if EA ever goes under and they said they had to get back to me, in a few days I got an email from a higher up in digital distribution at EA saying that although they don't have anything in place right now in terms of exit strategies, the general thinking is that anyone with a digital game purchase would be given a physical way (file or otherwise) to get their games.

For the time being with the FIFA series, this actually doesn't surprise me one bit. You couldn't get anything earlier than FIFA 16 already.

It's a problem, but ignorant people won't notice it or care until it really hits them. It's bad for consumers and good for the huge gaming companies. Games are literally going to disappear. Not great.
