Coach Mode Slider Set

It's been while since I have posted a slider set for NCAA Football. I have been playing coach mode on NCAA Football since it was first released in the 90's. One of the best games back in the day was NCAA 2000. It had a momentum meter which had a big impact on the game (I think that is where composure comes into play on NCAA 25), and a 24-team playoff as well. I must say that NCAA 25 is really good so far from what I was expecting to get. I have stats and data going back 25 years now. I have never been a big fan of sliders, but it is what we have to work with to get a competitive game.

I have done nothing but testing and tweaking and more so when updates happen. I think I am at a point that I can post and share what I have come up with along with the help of my son, who helped test as well.

NCAA has to fix some bugs, and I plan to reach out with a suggestion, but I am sure it has already been made.

1. Although in Coach Mode, the QB will not scramble, but instead will just stand there and either get crushed with a coverage sack or toss it out of bounds. Therefore, we have house rule that when the line starts to break down, that you can run the QB and scramble. Most of the time it is too late before I even realize this, but it has paid off a times.

2. The screen pass is impossible to complete, and the QB will always take a sack. Our second house rule is that if you run a HB screen pass that you have to pass immediately to the HB. It has to be fast, as you probably already know, because they are coming. I do a quick tap to get it to my HB. I don't run to many of these plays anyhow but wanted to talk about the flaw with the screen as well as the house rule.

Coach Mode: ON
LEVEL: VARSITY (Provides a better overall experience) 10/4 Update: I have settled in Varsity. Very good games to say the least. I am currently using a non-power team, Liberty, in an offline league and Colorado in an on-line.
INJURY: ON
WEAR AND TEAR: ON
QTR TIME: 11 Minutes (User Preference) 6 minutes works well if not using accelerated.
Min CLOCK TIME: 20 Seconds
I believe the rest of the general settings can be user preference. I can say as far as the recruiting that both auto and manual work well. The CPU does a good job of scouting for you, and you can also add players you like if you want. I use Auto and then see if there is anyone else, I want to try to pursue.

PLAYER
QBA: 46
PASS BLOCK: 70 - Has been a good spot and has slowed the DL line from just pouring through. I believe this is still broken with EA.
RECEIVER CTH: 48
FUMBLE: 51
RUN BLOCK: 60 - Provides a balanced OL with holding blocks and or opening some holes.
PASS DEF RT: 58
INTERCEPTION: 29
PASS COVER: 58
TACKLE: 49

CPU
QBA: 46
PASS BLOCK: 70
RECEIVER CTH: 48
FUMBLE: 51
RUN BLOCK: 60 - Allows the CPU to run better
PASS DEF RT: 46
INTERCEPTION: 28
PASS COVER: 46
TACKLE: 49

SPEED THR: 50 decided to go back to baseline. Too many other variables to tweak this right now. I want to do more research on this. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
INJURY: 20 (Tested on 18 for first few seasons, not many, just bumped to 20 to see a difference, still this is user preference as to how many injuries you want)

KICKING: Power 47
Accuracy 45

PENALTIES:
OFFSIDES: 53
FALSE ST: 53
HOLDING: 53
FACE MASK: 53
DEF PI: 53
ILLEGAL BB: 50
ROUGHING PASSER: 50 (I noticed that even of 51 or 52 that several of these were being called each game during testing. Every replay I watched showed the defensive player just walking by the QB and maybe just slightly touched them after the play, so I think the game was picking up that contact was made. Sort of the same thing with kicking.
ROUGHING AND RUNNING INTO THE KICKER: OFF
ILLEGAL CONTACT: ON
At baseline 50 there were hardly any penalties called. I think during testing my team only had 9 all year and some of those were delay of game. Moving it up to 51 resulted in 28 for a season. I then bumped to 52 and that seems to be okay. I will probably jump to 53 next season with the exception of Roughing the passer. In the past I normally played in injury and penalties off but want to give them a chance. What I am seeing is not too many, but just enough to add a little bit of flavor and variety to the game. So far so good.

Coach Mode rules :
1. Control no players other than scrambling from the pocket. If you want a QB designed run, select one from the play book.
2. You can change routes at the line for your receivers as well as your blocking scheme. Max protect helps with the crazy pass rush at times from the CPU.
3. You can adjust the line and coverages on Defense.
4. Pass to the HB on the screen pass, it will not work otherwise, and you will be sacked 99% of the time.
5. You will kick all punts, FGs, and kick-offs.
6. You are free to audible on both offense and defense.

Feel free to share any comments. Sliders will never be perfect, but what I like to try to get out of the game is a competitive one and one that does not feel like an arcade game.

Re: Coach Mode Slider Set

Thanks! Going to try this right now. I have been doing Coach mode a few seasons. Suddenly my offensive line forgot how to pass block. I was doing a 4 sec count before before scrambling. I can rarely make it to 3 and I am not calling deep pass plays. One of my last games I was sacked 13 times again a team I was rate 7 points higher than.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing with us. I haven't touched coach mode since early release. Really looking forward to trying these out!

Also, at quick glance, am I overlooking fatigue or is that just at default (50)?

Yes I have it on default 50. Didn't want to into the weeds with that. Wear and Tear does good enough and it forces you to swap out your back.

I agree the front line for pass block is terribe. Doing a line adjustment for max protect helps a little. I did move up the PB to 62.
