Is there a guideline for what types of recruits prefer which offensive systems?

A lot of this is common sense like when fullbacks and tight ends would prefer a pro offensive philosophy. But it got me wondering about some of the nuances of each system and which types of recruits choose which systems (playbooks you use) based on their attributes.

Spread - I’ve heard that speedy backs and receivers prefer this system. And I have trouble recruiting tight ends when I use a spread playbook. I think all of this is true with the Run and Shoot as well.

Option Run - Not sure about this one, but I’m assuming it’s hard to get receivers, and power backs prefer this system?

Multiple - Again, not sure who this attracts. I assume it would not really deter anyone away since it includes all philosophies?

If anyone has any info on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have honestly never noticed a trend. I know who prefers what in real life but idk whether the same is true in game. I know your playing style affects it but to the degree I don't know. I don't know if it's based on your playbook or your in game playcalling (like throwing really often attracts pocket passers while running a lot of read option attracts scamblers)

I think systems or playbooks don't matter and in fact its a lot simpler than that. If you go to "Recruiting > My School" and then check playing style you'll get a position by position breakdown of your grade and how to increase the grade. It basically comes down to stats.

I can confirm this too. I noticed when I switched from a 3-4 to a 4-2-5 in midseason, the strong safeties on my recruiting board all went from C range to A+ in favor of my playjng style. I can't remember if I switched my recruiting preference to 4-2-5 or if my safeties just started racking up more stats due to there being an extra one on the field. But stats do matter for sure. I've seen prospects at several different positions have their rating of your playing style fluctuate up or down throughout the season.

Just posting to echo the above posters that it's definitely all about stats in NCAA 14. I stuck with NCAA 12 for years before I finally bought 14 a year or two ago, and I believe back in NCAA 12 your scheme *did* matter to recruits. But in '14 I'm pretty sure if you play with Air Force's Option Run book, and never call any runs and just air it out with their SG formations, you'll basically attract the same guys an Air Raid team would.

I agree that while it is stats-based, there is an influential component of system because if you run 3-3-5 and are trying to recruit 4 DEs and 4 DTs, there will be less playing time for them than if you were recruiting for a 4-3, for eaxmple. I don't know if it is tied to the coach preferences for recruiting by position.

Re: Is there a guideline for what types of recruits prefer which offensive systems?

Like others have said it is based on stats mostly. For example you mention that recruiting tight ends for a spread/air raid/RNS offense is tough, but when I previously ran my TERaid playbook which emphasizes multiple tight end sets in an air raid system it was very easy to recruit tight ends. They were essentially lining up for me.
