Custom Playbooks based on personnel

In an old PC football game, I would (preseason) analyze each team's roster and assign each team a custom playbook to maximize that team's strength(s).


For this game, I am thinking of doing the same thing only for played games. I want to keep the identity of the coach but create intuitive formations based on personnel. For example, for a team with one big bruiser RB and a good receiving RB, have the #2 RB in all formations where he comes out of the backfield as a receiver. I even thought about some dual QB playbooks, where the scrambler is in a running package but the pocket passer gets most of the snaps.


Has anyone done anything like this in their dynasty? Is it even feasible?

Very easy to do, I do this stuff all the time with the formation subs which are part of dynasties, and I believe the other game modes as well.

Yes you can. This is what I loved about this game. The system would recognize the offensive direction that your team is going and bring you those type of recruits. For example if you had a big bruiser running back and you where running 75% of the time, you would not be able to land a top receiver.

Do you look at the CPU team and assign a 'better' custom playbook to that team?

Every game I change the the cpu head coach's playbook to something that works for their personnel. Then I up the head coach run or pass tendencies to correspond with what they should be doing. Changed the game for me. I even change the defense to 4 3 if the team I'm playing has two really good defensive tackles. I'm in year 2036 of my dynasty and this method works for me.

1. Every time you edit a coach you reset his current xp to 0 for that level. If you do this annually your gimping the CPU coaches you play every year.

2. For the OP CPU teams can't use custom play books unless you use 2 controllers.

No, I usually have enough tweaking to do with my team.
