Recruiting Gems and Busts

For those that have gotten into a dynasty already let's hear about your biggest recruiting finds as far as Gems and Busts go.

With UTSA I was searching for some JUCO players to give my team depth and talent at the cost of not having a deep freshman class, I found three offensive linemen that started around 60 overall and after scouting each were close to 75. Definitely was just what I needed, three guys one SO and two JR that could step in and start right away.

I also found a guy who was a bust. 4* player that started at 70, ended up being a 60 after scouting.

Re: Recruiting Gems and Busts

I've had a few ..one right off the top of my head was a 3* tight end who was rated a 68, nobody was touching him.. I didn't really need a tight end, but his height and 40 time made me scout him out.

Turns out to be a 80 rated tight end

Is that really how the gem/bust feature works? I would consider a gem or bust somebody that ends up differently than what you've scouted, regardless of how much you scout them. If you can just sniff out these 'busts' by scouting, then they aren't actually a bust.

Pretty much. Every recruit starts off with an overall. Scouting them reveals their individual attributes and recalculates their overall based on that. The 4* guy I scouted and saw how much worse he was, ended up signing with Texas. I bet they were disappointed.

It just puts an emphasis on scouting. I haven't advanced multiple seasons yet so I don't know if being a gem or a bust effects progression at all.

Heh it's as close as you're gonna get, I mean it still applies as they may be a 70 overall 3* to recruiting services but after you're scouting you realize he's overrated and would be a bust relative to what he was given rating/* wise.

Had a 3* OT in my Texas St. go from a 57 to a 66 with scouting, haven't found a bust yet but I like this system so far.

I saw a two-star WR who was 70 OVR at 100% scouted. Can't remember what he started as, though.

Re: Recruiting Gems and Busts

Earlier today had a 3* athlete jump from up from a 65 to an 80. Looks like he will be able to play offense or defense and be a very good player right away. Looking forward to bringing him into my rebuilding program.

Just started a test dynasty with sdsu. Haven't had a chance to land any gems or busts but I have seen The gem label. I think I'm onto a bust though. 3* CB and everytime I scout him his ratings decrease with the red arrow.
