Right with you. This isn't a slam on the CD guys because I'm sure they do what they can. The issue is EA.
How many years has PI been broken.. and they are "Looking into it"..?? Really?

Too many same ole same ole responses from EA. "We are looking into it",
"It's on our radar", "We have a group focusing on that".. and so on and so on.

I know we won't see and AI improvements.. fine I can deal with that. But for the love of God fix whats' been wrong for 6+ years and stop "looking into it".. or just admit you can't fix it.

I wish I worked at EA. I would call BS on all of their "we're looking into it" shenanigans. I'd be like, "Instead of looking into it, you need to pull your head out of it's butt and get on it!" see what i did there?

Those 4 things could also be helped on the field if EA would just add additional gameplay sliders.

Other than Special Team sliders for Kickers/Punters there are no other specific sliders that allow us to Adjust other aspects of gameplay that would benefit the CPU.

EA should include additional game play sliders like the following

Kick Returner/Punt Returner Success Ability
Kick Return/Punt Return Blocking Success

Running Back Ability Field Vision Awareness
QB Ability Scrambling/Option Ability
Fumble Slider

DL Finesse vs Power Move Ratio and Success Ratio (Right now they only have a Pass Rush but it should be extended into 2-3 additional sliders)

It would be nice have to have Player Tendencies take care of all this but that simply has not been the case so additional sliders much like NBA 2K and FIFA includes in their games would be the biggest addition to CPU on Field Gameplay.

Yes all of those things would help. But to me what really exposes the flaws with the CPU play is Coach Mode. Now to me that is best new mode, feature, what ever you want to call it, that they added to the series.

However, because you see all of the field much like watching a real game on TV, you start to notice things a lot more because you see a lot more of what is going on at once.

Like on punts, you can clearly see the gunners along the sidelines running down the field TOO FAST despite their speed and acceleration ratings. And then you can also see how it is an insane amount of fair catches and touch backs in the game.

When you are playing it yourself, you don't really notice it because you think it is just your awesome kicking skills that made them call for a fair catch. But no it is just a hell of a lot of fair catches because of the gunners running so fast and not really getting blocked.

That is why I always said the developers and CD attendees should play a lot of Coach Mode. In that mode you can see a lot of flaws in the CPU and make you say to yourself, well how come they did that instead of this.

CPU AI needs to be tuned to where as they will do things that a real life person would do. Like if you punting from the 50, you would coffin kick it or try to put as much hang time as possible.

CPU punters don't have any sense of situation awareness. They kick it full blast, same angle, regardless of where they are on the field. Which results in most times they kicking it directly out the back of the end zone.

When I think about it more, what EA developers need is a virtual AI recorder. Kind of like NFL 2K5 had. It would record your style of play and allowed you to play against your virtual self. The CPU AI played exactly the way you did.

So EA Sports need that kind of tool in their design package, where as they can record people playing as the different teams and team styles. Then just have the CPU AI play like the recorded styles.

That way when we play the CPU, the CPU teams will play true to form. Don't know how soon EA Sports developers could build such a thing, but I think it would bring the CPU AI to the next level.

That is a good starting point you described.

I remember NFL 2K5 and even NBA 2K games having the CPU to play with Human like tendencies. The CPU basically mirrored the Human style of play doing games.

That would be a great feature to add because then you control how teams actually played on the field.

Being able to have a actual Option Team mirror your style of play on the filed would also allow for smarter and better CPU AI logic when you face an Option Team.

It would allow the CPU to mirror your situational punting tendencies giving their punters an actual awareness on the field based on situations as you described.

I don't think EA has ever really dug deep enough into the CPU's style of play or tendencies because everything seems to be geared more and more towards online gameplay (human vs human control).

It's one the reason why i abandoned the NBA Live Series because their basketball game had no real life tendencies from CPU players on the court. They would never do anything that a Human player could do in terms of dribbling animations and moves.

Yeah that was my whole way of thinking. IF they could make a virtual AI recorder and then have people who actually KNOW how a team system works and play true to that system, they can record it. Then just give it to teams who run that type of system.

Because as it stands now, run n shoot, air raid is pretty damn weak when the CPU runs that style of offense. Then you have schools in real life that run a ton of screens don't do that in the game when the CPU controls them.

So I believe a virtual AI recorder would do the trick. And addition to that, maybe expand the coaches edits to the following:

Use HB screens
Use WR screens
Use reverses
Short passing attack
medium passing attack
long passing attack
attempt punt/FG blocks

The way the coach edits are now, it is too plain. You only got pass/run.

I have so many ideas but no way to get it to the powers that be that make the game. So it is kind of like for the past 4 years now my ideas just fall on deaf ears.
