The definition of "Cheese"

One thing i've noticed over playing games and reading threads is everyone considers different things cheese worthy or not. To me, no huddle isn't cheese, option isnt cheese, the same play isnt cheese(in some cases). Cheese is doing something glitched or anything to mess with the CPU A.I. to get an unfair advantage. Running one play over and over isn't cheese unless its like the madden glitch that cause the opposing defense to all blitz. To all people that think it is unrealistic, look up Mike Leach. quoted by him, "I run my offense like a 14yr old on xbox." When he beat #1 Texas, he said he ran 4 verticals over and over and over and over etc. I think the problem is we sports gamers are to proud to concieve and admit defeat. So about 90% of the time when there is something we can't stop or find an answer for we label it cheese. What is cheese to you.

Re: The definition of "Cheese"

1) I hate the term "Cheese," but whatever
2) I DO consider running the same play over and over "Cheese" in a game because the game does not have the benefit of a human brain to compensate for it.

If a real life coach runs the same play over and over and the opposing team can't stop it, that means they're just not good enough to stop it. If a video game can't stop it, it (in many cases) means the game is not intelligent enough to adjust to it.

Re: The definition of "Cheese"

IMO cheese comes in two basic forms

1. Taking advantage of design flaws in the game to create an advantage over another player.

2. The constant use of a specific tactic or combination of tactics despite down and distance, game situation or real life football strategy.

Cheese to me is a dairy product, goes well on pizza and with some crackers.

But seriously.... it goes well with some nice Wine. (Get it... cause if people see cheese, they usually wine about it! HA! Tip your waitresses!)

Ok Ok anyways. "Cheese" to me is where the player takes advantage of an AI glitch. Or if they run 5 wide and send everyone deep and have a absurdly fast QB and just scramble with him after my DB gets cleared out from the receivers routes. But then again, I don't play only so it really doesn't affect me.

Red: It was based in the Run N' Shoot.. so reads were an important part... But on the crabtree catch, the play was called "Score" and it is in NCAA as "Four Verticals"

P.S. - Why is it called "cheese" anyways?

Going for it on every 4th down.

Playing exclusively out of a 1-1-5 or Quarters defense no matter what down distance

Using players in unnatural positions such as a safety at DE, etc.

No it just means YOU are not intelligent enough to stop it.

Re: The definition of "Cheese"

Cheese is using a game exploit to your advantage. (Shifting lbs back and forth to confuse the ol, pump fake glitch, etc) I also hate when people scramble every play with the qb, thats not really cheese though.

If one play is working and your opponent can't stop it, run it until he stops it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Honestly the worst "cheese" is people picking oregon, bama, oklahoma, and florida state.
