3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Crowd DOES look better this year. That's not to say it's good, at best it's average. I'd give it a 5 or 6, but considering last year was probably a 1, that's exponentially better.
they can't do much about the crowd with this generation of hardware. with so much detail in the 22 players, refs, and the field, there's only so much ram and gpu power left to render a nice looking crowd. personally, i don't care what the crowd looks like outside of the cutscenes. change the depth of focus to the target player, and the result will be a nicely blurred out box of wrangler wearing chicken nuggets.

Yeah, I agree. I'd like to say the same thing about gameplay and what not, that they've done all they can in terms of fluidity and animations on this hardware, but who knows.

From what I've been hearing, even their coding is outdated. We will have a new console in about 3 years, so this will probably be the peak, if not near it, in terms of gameplay additions and tweaks, and realistic crowds and realistic commentary, and what not.

Still seems like players change direction far too quickly

Yeah, that is too bad but that problem will probably always be there.

I found playing on SLOW setting in NCAA 11 kinda fixed this

I don't know if it's the use of graphics or the camera angles, but Madden just seems to set big game tone much better this year. Granted, I think the crowd reaction is a bit overdone in Madden, but there is something lacking from that Auburn/Alabama video altogether. Custom sounds may help to some extent.
