Has anyone ever tried...

Changing a true freshman runningback to Quarterback and then waiting for them to develop their throwing then using them in a spread offense? I'm currently doing this with the #1 RB recruit in the country to get a player like Cam Newton so I can run my Oregon offense.

His throwing is probably somewhere in the 40's at this point. you'd be better off recruiting a spread type QB, Red Shirting him as a WR for his first year, and progressing his speed that way, instead of trying to get his THP and THA up only by progression.

Play with Kansas and after the first season change D.J. Beshears from WR to QB. I did it this past season in my OD and won the Heisman with him.

His attributes: 88THP, 88THA, 89 SPD, 88 ACC

When dealing with the generated recruits, this is really the only option. I don't think I've ever seen a generated recruit with any sort of throwing stats except for QBs and ATHs, so if you want a Cam Newton type, change a recruited Option QB to RB or WR, or keep a close eye on the ATHs available each year.

There are a ton of players like this spread amongst other teams. Syracuse has some true freshman WR. When playing a dynasty with Syracuse, I redshirted him, then changed him to a QB in offseason, and used him in my wildcat formation and would usually sub him in some shotgun formations.

There are a plenty of generated recruits other then QB's and ATH with good throwing stats. Every year there is atleast one FS, TE, and 2 or 3 HB's, sometimes more. Usually they are rather low rated at there primary position so they are easy to recruit.

I've been using pocket scout though, so they are easy to find.. not sure how easy otherwise. I hardly ever even recruit QB's.

You'd be better off just creating the guy yourself. Why go through all the trouble for a +3 in THP and THA every year?

So would changing a pocket passer into a WR get his speed up to say the 80s-90s if he started with like 60-70?

No.

Over 5 training camps (if he redshirts), you can expect a maximum improvement of about 15 points to his speed rating, and honestly, that's probably rare.
