Re: Do you ever hope you lose?

I have posted already in here, but I am 2-2 with Miami in my OD and 2-3 with Buffalo in another. Using my sliders. If I start to slack it will show. I was up 28-7 on Clemson and relaxed and next thing I know they were 2 points away from a tie game in the 4th.

This is why I only sim games in my offline dynasties. If I do play a game, I always quit late in the 4th quarter and then sim the game. For me, this is really the only way to get the most out of my dynasties.

Re: Do you ever hope you lose?

This is why I play out several "practice" dynasties before I start my "official dynasty. I want to get those sliders and settings right.

While I haven't bought this year's game yet, (don't know if I will), but it always seems that when I'm into my official dynasty, it's always the underdog that derails my season, as I usually play as a conference or national title contender.

I rarely audible and I do NOT exploit the game. Yea I could pump fake every time in hopes somebody bites, but I don't..etc.

I'm 4-0 with Arizona so far and yes, I did beat Iowa 28-10 but it was in Arizona. I then got by Cal 41-31 after they had a 21-3 lead.

All I know is that I do try and win every game by playing honest football and not using exploits. With Arizona I hope that I have made the sliders challenging enough so the CPU can beat me a few games. If I go undefeated I can live with me playing really well and getting some lucky breaks.
I'm pretty sure Iowa is underrated in this game. No way they lose at Arizona this year.

Re: Do you ever hope you lose?

My first year as Purdue I went 10-3. My three loses were by 1, 3, and 7. Had chances to win them all.

On the other hand, I had a ton of wins that were by less than a TD where my offense would either score late to give me the win or my defense would make a play in the 4th to preserve the win. I think I might have had maybe one blowout in the Big Ten against Northwestern and of course my OOC games against Toledo and an FCS team.

I think sometimes it's because when I'm facing a tough opponent, I go into ultra-conservative mode and try to control the ball while keeping the opposing offense off the field. I almost beat Wisconsin playing tough defense and running the football. When I'm able to run the ball, it makes playing defense that much easier, and slows the game down. I think Wisconsin had something like 40 plays heading into the 4th quarter. I was down 7-6 and scored early to go up 13-7. Their only TD to that point was a simple streak route in 1 on 1 coverage where Nick Toon caught it, beasted on my overmatched CB, and took it in.

Of course I fumbled that game away to lose but you get my point.

Sometimes when I find myself hoping to lose I pause the game and think about the games I've had to make sure the sliders I use are fair for both sides. I love losing when the CPU outplays me when they should but hate losing because the game's programming causes it. Sometimes it is really hard to discern between the two.
