Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress

I am in year 5 of my Nevada dynasty. I have been dominating the WAC with about three losses spread across those years, 2 times against Fresno State and once against Boise. This year I am currently 6-1, with my loss potentially being costly. I lost to my rival UNLV 37-31 in triple OT. I threw a pick in the endzone to lose. The problem is that UNLV has been so underwhelming in the previous years that I have been promising a "winning record against my rivals" to all my recruits. UNLV is my only rival. I hope some guys do not transfer. Also, I am playing Wazzou later this season; hopefully, I will one day steal their spot in the PAC-10.

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress

Blacksburg, VA - At media day at Lane Stadium, just one week before the 2013 season kicks off, reporters were on hand to speak with the new head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies Bud Foster, as well as some of their new players who are being called on to carry this team. There are only 5 starting seniors spread out through the whole roster, with everyone else being freshman and sophomores.

Reporter - "Coach Foster, can you comment and give us some insight on how you have been getting this team prepped for the upcoming season? "

Foster - "We have been diligently at work the past few months putting in our new schemes and evaluating every possible position to make sure that we field the best players. When you have a team as young as this, seniority goes out the window, and NO ONE is guaranteed a starting spot, regardless of how many awards any one player has won. You won the heisman last year? Congratulations, now get your *** in the weight room and do it again! I believe in earning your keep, and I have been demanding a lot from my players for this year, and they know that I mean business. They know that we are following up on 3 decades of success by Frank Beamer, and we are taking it one step further and we will not rest until we bring the BCS title home! There is an empty spot in our trophy case waiting to be filled. There have been many battles at every position coming into this season, and with one week remaining before our big trip to Southern California, we still have some unanswered questions on who is starting."

Reporter - "Coach, we have heard that you have been changing up your schemes for this new season, can you provide us some insight without giving too much away?"

Foster - "I can't give away all of our secrets, but I will say that you will see a new defensive with attitude. We are getting rid of the 4-3 defense in favor of the 3-4 defense, and we will be blitzing until the cows come home! I want pressure, pressure, pressure!! Last year, we were 114th in the nation in passing defense, and to me, that is like smacking my momma in the face. That is a knife in my back. These players know it, and they have been hard at work in the film room and weight room, getting ready for this new defense, and ready for the heavy passing attack of USC. Anderson, Caldwell, Lopez, Carter, Exum, and Williams bring a lot of experience to the table combined, and I am looking to lean on my secondary to lead these younger players and make our defense our strong point. Freshman Kevin Logan will be getting some looks at dime-cornerback in passing situations, as I see a lot of potential in this kid. Exum has slimmed down this offseason and picked up his speed, so I moved him to Free Safety and switched Ryan Caldwell to Strong Safety. Like I said, our secondary should be our strong point, and hopefully our defense will become the identity of this team in comparison to last season, where defense was an after-thought. If anyone knows me, they know that I live and die by my defense, and I will NOT allow my defense to duplicate last season's debacle.

On the offensive side of the ball, we have a lot of speed in comparison to strength, and when you are young, you have got to play to your strengths. If that means that 3-4 different running backs get touches every game, then so be it. If we field 2 or 3 different quarterbacks to get us down the field, then so be it. Whatever works, is what we will stick with. I am demanding a lot from these young men, but I believe they are up to the challenge. I have seen a lot of heart and dedication the past few months, something that has been a rarity in the off-season in the past - which I believe, has lead to our demise in most of these seasons that we have missed the title game by 1 loss. We are going to be switching our offense up a bit, backing away from the pro-style offense that Beamer had in place. Stinespring and I have been hard at work, and we are going to be running the ball down our opposing team's throat. We have a lot of speed, and we have an agile front offensive line, and we are going to take advantage of it."

Reporter - "While we are on the subject of offense Coach Foster, have you decided on your starting quarterback for this season?"

Foster - "Trey Gresh. Trey proved himself last year when he came in for Clayton and Wilkinson after their unfortunate injuries, and lead us to victory on the grand stage against Alabama, and proved that he can lead this football team. He has a lot of speed, great intelligence, and he is a hard-nose fighter. If I was to go into battle, he is the type of guy I would like by my side. Trey has worked on his speed, and his IQ this offseason, and has been making some precision passes and decisions. He will be pushed by freshman Brandon Reid (6'6" 215 lbs). Reid has had a great camp, and has possessed some great speed, and a terrific arm. I am just worried about his release and his decision making, but he has a future with this program. His height is a great advantage, and that is something I like to build around. Both of these men have some great receivers that have stepped up, and will provide dangerous targets. Our receiving corp was the biggest worry coming into the offseason, knowing we lost 2 senior playmakers. DJ Coles, Adam Singletary, and Nubian Peak have stepped up their receiving skills, and should really help this offense out."

Reporter - "All the buzz has been about your 2 top running back recruits, and how you are going to utilize them. Can you offer any insight into how you plan on utilizing these athletes?"

Foster - "Yes...Arnold and Matthews both have been tremendous recruiting pick-ups for Virginia Tech. Arnold is a bit on the smaller side of the spectrum at 5'6", but his low-to-the-ground-prowess makes him extremely dangerous, and his speed is unsurpassed. We have found our successor to David Wilson, and to start the season, you will be seeing him on kick and punt returns to put him in a position to become a playmaker. Matthews is pretty much the twin of Ryan Williams, with similar stature and build, and we are very excited to see how he will contribute to our running game this season. Gray will be getting the start, and alternating carries with Daniel Hopper, but Matthews will be biding his time incase one of the other guys go down, or the provide lackluster results. I am not afraid to pull someone if they are not performing, so this will be an interesting battle."

Reporter - "One last question Coach Foster: Are you looking forward to traveling to Notre Dame to take on Beamer and the Fighting Irish?"

Foster - " (smiles) Like you wouldn't believe! Obviously right now our focus is on USC and USC only, but its all in the back of our minds having the opportunity to travel to play Beamer's Fighting Irish and to see how we stack up against them. This is a huge opportunity for Virginia Tech, as well as myself, to see who can prepare the better gameplan. If things go as planned, this game could be the difference in a BCS bowl/title game, and just another bowl game. So yes, I am damn excited to play against Beamer and bust some Irish ***!!! No offense Frank! ((laughs))."

Reporter - " Thank you for your time today, Coach."

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress

MALONE, LA-It was Media Day today for the #16 ranked Louisiana Monroe Warhawks who kick off the season with a big home matchup against #9 ranked Rutgers this saturday night with a 6pm kickoff.

Festivities included there final pre season scrimmage this morning with team photos and and a autograph session. Football is definitely in the air here in Monroe Louisiana.

The Warhawks enter the 2017 season ranked 16th in both AP and Coaches poll and ranked 3rd in the big 12. They return 9 starters off of last years defense including pre season All Americans MLB #53 David McConnell and SS #40 Antonio Walker. Offensively they return 8 starters including pre season Heisman hopeful QB #2 Leonard Sims who returns for his junior season for the Warhawks.

Today Kirk Herbstriet stopped by on his annual pre season campus tour and interviewed Head Coach Eddie Polly.

Kirk- Coach Polly how do you plan life without all american doak walker award winner Brian Hampton gone to graduation?

Polly- I think our offense is still trying to find its identity, Hampton is a tremendous lost for us but thats what recruiting is for, thats what spring ball is for and thats what fall camp is for. We have a junior in #23 Tony Goodman who is looking real good right now, he was fortunate enough to get some carries last year and he knows this is his opportunity to shine Hampton was speedster and we'll miss that but Goodman has a rare combination of speed and strength that I think will help us to wear down defenses this season. We also have a great receiving core so this year we wont have to focus on getting one person the ball.

Kirk- Im hearing alot of good things about this true freshmen Free safety you guys picked up this year I think ESPN rated him the 3rd best player coming out of high school, give us some insight and let us know how you figure to get him reps on the big stage.

Polly- LOL, your talking about #28 Kiel Leonard, this kid is special 6'0 195 lbs. since the first day of camp he's been turning heads he can hit and he can cover, he's very vocal on the field and is already turning into a leader. We were skeptical because we lost our true leader Jason Freeman who was a 3 year starter for us also a 3 time thorpe and All American but Kiel came in and didnt feel phased by the responsibility he has to fill playing free for us. We were thinking about putting SS Antonio Walker there but we'll keep Walker at strong and start Kiel at free for the Rutgers game and take it from there.

Kirk- Lets talk about Leonard Sims, he is entering his junior year there is Heisman hype all over him, what are you expecting from him?

Polly-This kid has the ability to be special, he showed signs of that his freshmen year and some what regressed by throwing 21 INT's last season. But its no secret he's a talent. When we brought him in we werent expecting him to play right away, he was a hometown right from Monroe and was a 3 star so we figured we would groom him but inconsistencies got him into the game sooner than we expected and he hasnt looked back. All we want from him is to manage the game and his numbers will come. Every since the conference championship game against OU where he threw 3 critical interceptions he's been staying after doing the little things to get better. I expect great things from him this year.

Leonard Sims throws a pass against Georgia in last season home opener

Kirk- Lets talk about that game, If I recall the sooners ended your 64 game winning streak, how did that feel?

Polly- Honestly I wasnt upset about that streak ending, I was upset that we lost a chance to compete for a national title. We're expected to play for a championship every year so it was a major let down. The sooners went on to win the title and I congratulate them. It was a reality check for us all and we'll be using that game as a great motivational tool.

Kirk- Thanks for your time coach always a pleasure to sit down with you.

HOME IS WHERE IS WHERE THE "WINS" ARE

Won my bowl game against Arkansas and now I am in the offseason. Lost both Royster (graduation) and Green (NFL Draft), so I desperately need to find a running back who can step in and perform. It's not going to be easy but at least I have a pair of scrambling quarterbacks.
