Some thoughts on exclusivity

Guys,

I really think this post deserves its own thread because it says volumes about my feelings toward EA right now. Jethrotull provided his insight on the latest forum post by Russ:

"After reading their explanation and playing the demo, it makes me want to puke, I was getting motion sickness from the new camera angle.

I thought they hired a new roster guy? How do you admit to having something broke last year and then not fix it this year?

Could you imagine if other companies in America took this approach. Say a car door kept falling off, but instead of fixing it they just let the driver hit the highway without it. A teacher who couldn't read, instead of replacing the teacher they continued to let her teach. It's almost comical how you guys messed this up.

If you can't put out a complete product with an exclusive license, don't. Great ideas, poor execution, which leaves you 4th and Goal from the five."

The latest forum post by Russ has me sick at my stomach. This is the second year that EA has allowed very serious bugs to be released into the game. This means one thing: If I am to have a college football game this year, I must buy the game from EA Sports, which means that I must pay full price for an incomplete product! What is the alternative?

EA at this point should realize that time is running out! We buy from this company based soley on our love of college football and our need for a college football game. I personally have no loyalty to this company and I could probably speak for the majority of EA customers when I say they do not either.

Thanks to exclusivity, NCAA is the only option we have. Given recent events and the acknowledgement by EA that we will be receiving an unfinished product again this year,

Why do YOU buy from EA?

How can anyone answer without knowing how good/bad the "alternative" would be?

One could only answer no out of pure hated/demise for the NCAA product now

or

One could only answer yes out of pure love/praise for the NCAA product now.

How did I know that at some point this would be one of the responses to my post?

EDIT: Oh wait I know...because its true....

Whether you believe that or not, that doesn't make the question non-hypothetical. I don't see how anyone can give an honest answer without seeing the alternative.

Funny.

I think if a competitor could get hold of the NCAA license a lot of people here would desert EA. At least for a year.

With all that money and exclusivity, you'd think EA would build brand loyalty or something. Instead gamers just hate EA's guts.

If it was someone like 2K Sports then I figure this game would be better than it is since they would have competition to worry about. Still I would just do like i do with the NBA games and rent both.
