It's probably a combination of the things people have posted here in this thread about - the game being seen as lackluster, the criticism of the game and conflict that comes when dealing with those that like the game. But, I like to be optimistic...I'm thinking this year will be a big year for video game football and that next year, things will only get better. Dunno. We'll see.

I hope they do, but I feel like it is a bit presumptuous to start touting them as great games before they even touch the shelves. I also feel like it's a bit presumptuous to tout them as horrendous games before they hit the shelves.

People jump to conclusions too quickly.

Re: Remember when this board had twice the traffic of Madden?

Having been here for half a decade, I have seen trends come and go.

NCAA had the most traffic for a long time. However as time went on NCAA went downhill.

This year it seems Madden has made huge strides in improving their game, while NCAA appears to be more of the same. Devs have been here for a long time and as such, know what gammers want. Each and every year NCAA has managed to disappoint in same major fashion one way or the other.

As time has gone by, people have begun to realize we are fighting a losing battle with the current NCAA dev team. For the past 5 years I have been here most posts have been prefaced with the phrase " well maybe next year" . Its finally taken its toll on me and I no longer care.

I have watched gaming evolve as a whole over the last 5 years or so, and at the same time I have watched NCAA football move in reverse.

Now when you come to the NCAA boards there are primarly 2 different groups. 1 group will complain about certain aspects of the game, and the other group will spend another 1000 posts trying to explain why maybe we should just " wait till next year"

This forum is very predictable. As such, watch me predict the future.

1) Closer to release there will be a 1000+ post thread on "When and where did you get it thread"

2) 300 of those posts will be " What is "soandsos" ratings.

3) Someone will get the game early and do an impressions thread and proclaim it to be the greatest NCAA game ever.

4) Naysayers will follow that thread and find faults and bugs and be told almost immediatly by a mod to cease complaing or risk a " time out" from the forums.

5) After the impressions thread has gone about 1000+ posts proclaiming it to be the next Jesus, it will be locked and moved because the rest of the peanut gallery has the game.

6) After the peanut gallery has the game you will see that everyone that had a gripe about the game was right in one form or another and that everyone that trolled them in the impressions forum saying it was an " alpha build" , earlier than "release build" , and that they should wait until the "retail version" is really released...will then concede they were wrong and hopefully " next year " it will be fixed.

7) Repeat around June 2010....

Re: Remember when this board had twice the traffic of Madden?

I can tell you why the Madden board is getting more attention than the NCAA board EVEN THOUGH NCAA is coming out sooner: the Madden team has done a better job. They are announcing better things which thus makes more people interested. I love the excuses you NCAA die-hards are on about: "the negativity of these boards is driving people away".. you ever think why everyone is negative? Maybe because the NCAA team gave us SEASON SHOWDOWN and the Madden team gave us PRO-TAK?! I especially loved this reasoning:

"I think it's because of the growth of OS. Most of the longtime members here preferred NCAA, but we've seen a ton of newbies in the last year on this site and most of them seem to be Madden fans, as it is in the general public where Madden sells far more copies."

haha! Are you joking? Madden fans = newbies? Is that what I'm seeing here? Yeah right. Why don't you try this one out for size, NCAA is going moving in the direction that EA Sports Football has been moving since they moved to next gen: features for the casual instead of gameplay for the hardcore. I'll garuntee you that if the NCAA team does this crap again next year -- waste their time on AWFUL features -- the NCAA boards won't even be a third of what the Madden boards are.

I'm still trying to understand why the Madden team has turned it around but the NCAA team is moving in the same direction as always. Why is it that the NCAA team did not get the message that we don't care about stupid features or perks and we want a quality FOOTBALL game before we want a crapp College Football one. It's really a joke and that is why I (as well as about 100 more other OSers at any given time) do not visit this board.

Re: Remember when this board had twice the traffic of Madden?

I don't post much not because negativity is posted, but because the games have justified it. I burned a late Christmas present on 07 for my new 360 (not realizing how awful it was compared to the original Xbox version I already had), and I went to Wal-Mart to get 08 at midnight on release....only to go back 2 weeks later and swap it because the midnight-release discs weren't burned properly and would freeze up (mine jammed on the stadium load, so I couldn't play the game at all!).

It's hard to be optimistic when you've seen $120 go down the tubes in games you're embarrassed to admit you spent much time playing.

+1 exactly. the community is only going to think off of what the DEV team gave us. Question to the person you're replying to:

This negativity that you see so much, why is it here other than the fact that Madden is going to be a better game? Do you think it's here because the NCAA anticipators are JUST DUMBER when they look at NCAA? Why is it that we collectively can see all of the GREAT and WORTHWHILE things in Madden but in NCAA we can't and are so lacking of rational thought? I think it is YOU who is lacking in rational thought because you are so comfortable with this POS that WILL BE NCAA 10. Get over yourself. The hoax has been exposed.
