ncaa 04 was the greatest football game ever made(overall wise). this game had the best recruiting system to date( ireally enjoyed that), and the online multiplayer was bananas. this game totally rocked.

No doubt- 2004 is, by far, the best in the series to this point. It was a phenomenal game. I won't agree with the best football game comment though

There are only two games that I have purchased that I instantly wanted my money back after playing the game:

NCAA 2005 with the ridiculous stuttering on the Xbox and MLB 2K6. The NCAA series for me went downhill bad after 2004.

My question for any of the developers stalking around here is how did so much go so wrong for 2005 after 2004. I mean it was uncanny how the game went from best to worst.

Notre Dame was the only real entrance. The others were generic. Did you watch it every time? Just wondering.

This is why I love the hardcore gamers! The game was the best and LA Tech would be a power house in year 7.

Now, if LA Tech were to be a powerhouse in year 7 on NCAA 09, we'd get GRILLED on this board!

Yes. Due to memory reasons the entrances had to be killed in favor of ESPN Gameday/Virtual Corso (as we called it).

I agree 05 was bad.

07 was stripped down? You're talking about the Next Gen (Xbox 360) version right? Keep in mind it was a totally new game versus another iteration on the game that started in 2002.

08 I don't think was awful. At final, I thought it was pretty good.... but after playing it for a while I changed my mind. We made huge strides there (video highlights, deep recruiting, 60 fps on xbox), but it just didn't "come together" to make it a great game.

Looks like I'm on a roll in this thread so I'll post one more before going to bed!

My answer? I don't know. Sorry. Can't say much other than that. The feature set was sweet (Home field advantage, sanctions), but I guess a lot of stuff went wrong and things got fixed poorly at the last minute.

I wasn't that involved at the time, so I'm just speculating based on my experience. I also didn't play it much after launch because of the drops.
