Sending Players To The Pro's

So, in my Dynasty, I do the Auto Coach Progression at Slowest. I also do Auto Recruiting, exception being Preseason to fill and arrange my recruiting board, as well as give out Scholarships, and in the Offseason to handle the Transfer Portal. With that, whoever I get, that's who I coach. In my 4 years since taking over Maryland, we've been to 2 CFP's, and I've had guys put up elite numbers. However, most of these guys were not rated high overall...in the low to mid-80's to be exact.

What I've found is regardless of the type of numbers a player puts up, regardless of what their development trait is, the game doesn't seem to take that into account when it comes to players leaving early for the NFL or getting drafted. Up until this past season, my recruiting classes have been in the 60's. i got my first Top 25 class(#25) last season, so the quality of player is rising. But, if stats, or development trait(Impact, Superstar) doesn't really affect getting drafted, what does? In my opinion, if a guy is lighting it up in a P5 conference, he should get a look at "The League" right? My Pro Potential grade (C) is being impacted and certain guys are locking me out, which is cool. I roll with who I get. Just wondering what's the sauce? I'm not getting anybody to the League hardly lol.

I have never had a player leave early with an overall rating below 88. My players typically get drafted a round earlier than projected. In my last season I had a Junior Field General MLB with a Star development trait who came in 2nd in the Butkis and was a 90 overall declare for the draft. The game projected him to be a 4th rounder. He was drafted in the 3rd round.

I think overall rating is the primary factor in players getting drafted

Re: Sending Players To The Pro's

I think it's like 90% their overall rating, and 10% positional importance. I do like some of the variance of guys leaving early for the draft, for example I had a guy who was a 95 overall junior who chose to come back for his senior year without me even having to persuade him. I've also had an 88 overall declare early. But I do think there should be more guys declaring early, and I think if they're in the 84+ range, they should be willing to go if they had great seasons. But the draft logic is also pretty bad. I mean I've had it project like 6'7 95 overall RT's (prototypical size) for like the 5th round. They almost always get drafted a round or two ahead of the projection, but it's still silly. It wasn't like I was at a small school where it's a little more risky, we're talking the #1 rated tackle in the country, prototypical size, athletic, at Oregon (the best conference in the country). That's the kinda stuff I'd like to see addressed. I'd like to see more guys declare early, I'd like to see stats matter for their declarations, I'd like to see the draft logic be addressed in terms of logical projections and ultimately their drafted position. I don't think every single 90+ QB should be a 1st rounder.. But if they're prototypical size, and they played extremely well, particularly in a P4 conference, they should be a 1st rounder 9 times out of 10.

Their development trait should have an impact on getting drafted.

A player’s OVR is the main factor in getting drafted. For a simplistic example, if the top 10 (a number I made up) QBs have OVRs of 93-89, then almost anyone over 88 will get drafted while those below 89 won’t get drafted. Whereas if the top 10 TEs are rated 87-84, then TEs above 83 will get drafted and those below 84 won’t.

A player’s development trait has a direct impact on their progression which impacts their final OVR for the most part. If they play a lot and put up good stats, a higher development trait player will end gain more OVR than a low development guy, with some caveats. There’s randomness involved (which I love). Also, a huge factor is their stat caps which affects their ceiling. For the most part, lower star guys have lower ceiling (which directly means lower OVR, and thus lower draft likelihood). A high development guy with a low ceiling will hit the ceiling quickly, but then will plateau and won’t progress any more. However a lower development guy with a higher ceiling will take longer to hit the ceiling, but his final OVR would make him more likely to get drafted.

Re: Sending Players To The Pro's

I stole the tip from someone on here and what I do is edit players overall. So If I have a 88 overall I'll edit his rating to 93-96 so he will go pro. I also take notes of what I edit that way If I need to change it back I can. This helps me have atleast a few players go pro on good teams
