Classic vs. Revamped

I still don’t understand the difference. Both have arc determined by how long you press the icon. What am I missing?

Re: Classic vs. Revamped

the vague difference as i understand them is classic is more punitive but with placement theres more control over the landing spot if you so choose. revamped provides a more perfect trajectory to fit the ball in smaller windows kinda like aim assist for your qb.

Re: Classic vs. Revamped

Classic gives you 3 trajectories to work with.

If you run the same curl route and throw with the same timing every single time, then every time you throw a bullet it will have the same exact path. Every time you throw a touch it will have the same path. Every time you throw a lob, you guessed it, same path.

With Revamped you aren't throwing with 3 predetermined trajectories on each throw. Where you land on the meter determines the trajectory and ball speed. If I hold the button long enough to be more than a lob but not as long as a touch, I get a semi-touch pass that's got more loft than a Classic touch pass but isn't a full on lob. If I hold the button long enough to be more than a touch but less than a full on bullet, I get a trajectory in between that of a touch and bullet.

If I tap the button as little as possible for the highest trajectory with Revamped, I get a high lofting ball that's higher(and slower) than any lob I can get with Classic.

Simply put, you have significantly finer control over the velocity and loft of the pass since you're working with a meter now and not 3 predetermined pass types.

Re: Classic vs. Revamped

I love revamped, the problem with it is it's too accurate no matter the QB.

Using classic fixed the press issues I was having with the CPU getting smoked by my speedy WR's on verts. Now, I under throw the ball, over throw, miss, etc.. it's been a game changer for me.

I don't think it effects the CPU QB's, but I am also seeing them have the same under/over throws as I am more often than I did on revamped.

This is why I stopped using Revamped. Too accurate.

I am really hoping next year we get Placement and Revamped combined as a setting that allows us to have the velocity/trajectory control of Revamped with the aiming ability of Placement along with the ratings dependency for accuracy.

I’ll third this. When using revamped, anytime my WR beat press coverage and got a step or 2 on the defender, a revamped lob pass was basically a guaranteed TD and it felt like cheating throwing it. Using classic, those are definitely not guaranteed (much more often it’s incomplete or even intercepted). But when I do complete it, it feels sooooooo satisfying.

Agreed, and typically if I'm playing a good team, it's rarely completed. I do love seeing the occasional deep short throws where the WR stops, turns around, and makes the catch.
