Why is CFB25 better than M25?

As we all continue our journey with this year's titles and think about what next year will bring. There is one clear observation from these two games, and that is CFB25 is much more polished than M25.

I can go on for days to explain why from A GAMEPLAY standpoint but I find my self firing up CFB when I'm deep in a game and that boom tech seems to glitch out and doesn't let animation play out naturally.

The one-handed catches are cool, and everything but the individual control of your player is far superior in CFB.

They dynamic run blocking and pass pocket seem so much more fluid, as does the route running. In Madden, I swear all recivers run routes the same. I've tried with sliders to get the gameplay close to CFB, but it just don't iron out. Visuals in Madden at times look better than college, but gameplay is what makes someone come back asking for more. I think Madden had a great attempt....but it looks like little brother dominated this round.

It’s an eye of the beholder thing probably, so probably best (for me) not to get into a discussion of betters. I’ve played CFB 25 pretty much daily since release. I’ve played 10 ish games of Madden plus some partial games. No sliders, only really minor settings changes.

In my small amount of time with Madden I find a few things:

The play call screen seems muddy. The whole translucent thing is really difficult for me to see. The play art can be unclear to me at times.
Somehow the camera seems off coming from CFB. I can’t settle in.
Man coverage seems more effective, which probably makes a lot of sense.
I love the way the defenders kind of mill around into position in Madden.
Madden seems to be far more star centric(makes sense as they focus on that). Good luck running inside consistently vs Dexter Lawrence.
I miss checking the blocking schemes so much. It’s a huge part of my CFB running game. The red and green zones makes sense but don’t provide the same info as CFB, which allows me to make my own assessment if I should really plan to run that way.

Madden 25 seems fun. I’m getting way more mileage out of CFB 25 right now. I hope these dev teams continue to share ideas. This CFB game and this community have made me want to be way more engaged with the game as far as scheme, for better or worse at time given the limitations. For a long while I’ve played Madden as a dumb time, late night distraction.

Re: Why is CFB25 better than M25?

I find CFB way easier and predictable than Madden, so I actually think the gameplay is slightly worse. Everything else about CFB is better though and seems to be getting better with each patch. But they need to improve the default run blocking and the AI predictability because you can run the same 3 plays in a row and have it be successful almost each time. Madden seems to have more difficulty in regards to defending similar plays and rushing the backfield.

Quite the opposite for me, I find that money plays in madden never change, in cfb I can run the same rpo and get vastly different results every time

For me, the college game has a built in advantage with the wider hashmarks. I feel like this is what helps give it the wide open feel. You line up on one hashmark , run a play all the way to the other sideline... speed kills.

Speed Options to the far side of the field with fast RBs or Jet Sweeps with fast WRs are almost guaranteed to get you at least 5 each time, if not significantly more.

Which difficulty are you on? I agree that the RPO changes things a lot, but in Madden this year, the defense changing presets makes it a little less predictable. I’m CFB, I can see how the defense is set and already know whether or not I’m passing or running because there are no pre-snap adjustments.

I also can run an 0 1 trap with a decent offensive line and gain 5+ yards every time unless it’s an all-out blitz. I’ve tried that in Madden and the defense adjusts once it’s seeing I’m running it too much. Also the blocking seems to vary more so the plays aren’t always as effective.

Doesn’t mean there aren’t money plays in both, it’s just harder to figure out in Madden from what I’ve seen.

Re: Why is CFB25 better than M25?

CFB plays a more loose, visceral, and open game of football while Madden feels stiff in comparison. The player impact during tackling seems more organic in CFB as well. Not sure what the deal is with the "boom tech" in Madden, but its causing a bouncy "ping pong" feel in the tackling interactions, far from organic.

Lastly, CFB tells a better story and connects you better with the players via a hefty amount of stat overlays and replays, which Madden doesn't appear to do (I'll see a replay or stat overlay in Madden every blue moon). I think replays and stat overlays are extremely important when it comes to "enamoring" you with certain players and makes you want to get to know them better via targeting them more when they're doing well, etc.
