2nd Half Home Field Advantage

Can someone explain to me why in the second half of a game that's not close, the home field advantage disappears? This allows the opponent to just shred your defense into pieces. It also works in your favor as well if you're down big. But in real life the crowd would still be excited & causing problems for the opponent. Is this something that can be changed in a patch?

I think it's pretty realistic, if a team gets up big the energy in a stadium changes big time. The bigger issue to me is the constant heroic come backs you see from the CPU when the game should be over. But that's a discussion for another thread I guess.

It had its own thread and been so throughly debunked it's not even funny.

Gotta love the NPC brigade “that’s been debunked” in response to anyone noticing this… how can you debunk something that this many people notice?

is the screen supposed to be shaking once the stadium goes into full pulse mode? seems like in some videos you see it does, but don't really recall it happening in my dynasty games.

This has not been my experience with home field advantage at all. I have maintained leads with Virginia — a team with no consistent front four pass rush at the Power 4 level — even as the CPU has attempted to mount comebacks, and Clemson’s crowd letting up certainly didn’t ease me back into a game I lost 52 to 7.

You are probably letting up on the gas with your playcalling because you hold a big lead. The CPU will absolutely pick up on your playcalling tendencies and call beaters if you keep calling the same coverages over and over.

For example: I’ve had to come up with some additional trips checks because by midseason the CPU keyed into the fact that I was just spamming Cover 4 Palms (which plays Stubbie against 3x1) whenever it broke the huddle in trips. In response to my predictability, the CPU started spamming concepts which get #3 isolated on a corner route against my playside safety, who is not the best in man coverage.

No one in this community wants to be told “skill issue”, and I understand it’s hard to pick up on your own patterns and tendencies. However, given that we know the CPU can learn and adapt now, examining your own situational playcalling tendencies if the CPU routinely closes leads on you in the second half is going to be the starting point for improving your game going forward.
