Need help with mechanics of throwing the deep ball please

I have a streak called against press man coverage.
My WR beats the press and has a 2-4 yard lead on the defender.
I push up or maybe up+towards sideline on the left stick and tap the B button.
More than 75% of the time the pass is under thrown (my WR has to do a 180 to attempt to catch it) and the trailing CB easily swats the ball away.
I just tried this in practice, trying to be able to lead the WR on a ton of passes and the result is the same.

I use classic passing (I tried revamped and sucked at it pretty horribly). I normally use small “pass lead increase.” In practice I tried medium pass lead increase, but I underthrew just as many passes. The only noticeable difference was that I overthrew some as well, while I never overthrow with small lead.

What am I doing wrong?

Is my assumption that pushing the LS up to lead the WR away from the trailing CB correct?

Is it a ratings issue? I mainly use scramblers, but I’ve used field generals as well while I recruit scramblers.

Is it because I use classic passing? I absolutely don’t have the stick skills for placement and accuracy, and have sucked with revamped with red throws 75% of the time and yellow throws maybe 20% that I’m not lobbing the ball. Lobs are the only passes I can consistently get blue.

This is mainly just an issue with leading receivers downfield. If I’ve got a crosser I don’t have much trouble leading him left or right away from a trailing defender.

Well crap…. It is because I use(d) classic passing. Threw 10 streaks in practice with classic and 6/10 were under thrown and swatted. Threw 10 streaks with revamped and 0/10 were under thrown. Also, the trajectory of a revamped lob is WAY higher than a classic lob (the low classic trajectory is part of the reason they get swatted). I’m not sure if classic lobs have lower trajectories, or if I’m not able to do a classic lob and am doing touch passes instead somehow (but I tap the button just as quickly in classic).

I played around with classic and location and imo revamped is the way to go. I love the variance in trajectories, there is still variance on accuracy, you can still lead pass, but it gives you so many options when making a throw.

After enough trying the other passing options I'm sticking to revamped.

The high pass modifier is really important for deep passes - the default is targeted to their chest which often brings it low enough for a swat. High pass + lob is the only way I've consistently cleared the DB's reach.

Revamped was the one I went with as it actually provided a way to lob the ball. It works well for me.

I’ll try this out to see how it works. Does it lead to nice catch and runs, or to jump, catch, tackles?

I’ve switched back to revamped (played around with it for the 1st month before switching to classic and instantly became a much better passer with classic) and I’m giving it another shot.

Played around in practice for half an hour and I’m still seemingly incapable of throwing a bullet pass that isn’t red.

There's some timing for sure. Most of my bullets end up yellow and that's worked out fine. I did change a few settings. I think I changed the pass lead to medium and the meter speed or whatever that is called.

It did take me a while to get a feel for it though.
