Got lucky somehow and got a Kimbrel and a Donaldson. Chased the dragon and paid for some more stubs and got nothing. 6 Steven Sousa's and 8 Matt Joyce's later and I feel taken.

That's a shame. All those players could be bought for under 75 stubs total, including 3 Hale's

I bought one pack and it had Scherzer. I feel like I hit the lotto and will just quit there.

The only way these packs would have value is if the sold for 300 stubs each (or less). It takes to long to get 1000 or 2000 stubs to waste them on the offshoot chance that you might actually get someone of value.
