I haven't really played a CH game since CH2k5. I played the demo of 2k8 and rented it as well...I actually liked the graphics (presentation a little dull) and gameplay. Although, with limited playing time and so many other games still in my stable, I decided not to buy. But since the news of "no 2k9" came out, I began to think of this game in terms of MVP 05 and NFL 2k5. Both of those games were acclaimed on PS2/xbox, but I wondered if CH 2k8 was worth buying just as a collectors item, since it is discontinued.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Usually when I think of collectors items, I think of something that I will keep stored away and/or protected. Something that i will not touch (only to admire) or use. CH 2K8 is definately something that you want to play not just admire.

I know what you mean, but for instance, when I am done playing a game I usually trade it in. But with MVP 05 (PC) and NFL 2k5 I never got rid of them (for the obvious reasons). In my mind, that made them collectors items. All collectors items are not meant to be sealed in the package forever...alot of it depends on what the item is and if you plan on selling it for big bucks later in time. I also collect KOF games. They are all open, but I love the series so much I will never trade them in. That's what I am talking about.

Yes. I'm going to keep this game in my collection and never trade it in. I would definitely say it is worthy of that.

Totally, it's a great game, and with 2Kshare you can play with up to date rosters and stuff for years. I recommend you add it to your collection.

Yeah me too. Though I played 2K6 and 2K7, I thought they were a step backwards for the series (well, for the PS2 anyways).

I just got 2K8 for the PS3, thinking that there's a good chance there won't be a good college hoops game for many years to come. After playing it all last night I'd say it's well worth it...

Though I'm not sure if I'd call it a commemorable piece.

with this ending the series, its definitely worth picking up!

Also a lot of Kats on OS will be updating it next year to keep it going!
